ARFC rounds off 2006 with victory

In a match played on fine but a bit sunny weather at St.Wilfred’s artificial pitch, ARFC overcome DSTA 3-1 in front of the near-capacity crowd of 100,777 fervent fans.

Prior to the kick-off, ARFC Board of Directors received news that ARFC fans would turn out in full force to thank all ARFC warriors for their 2nd place finish in the Classiq League 2006. Also, it is the last match of 2006 and the fans would like to show their appreciation to all warriors for giving them a good year. Hence, David Mak (father of Marco Mak), a prominent ARFC Director, quickly called up the Traffic Police to control the traffic and also got his students to help as volunteers. Kiat Gulam, another illustrious ARFC Director but was absent, arranged for 77 giant screens to show the match live outside the stadium while determined Huiming, the last ARFC Director, managed to convince all the coffee-shop owners, food-courts and S-11 outlets to beam the match live. Used-to-be-speedy right-back Boon, entrepreneur Guoxiong and hard-working Tong also gave out their calling cards for special rates on housing loans, mobile phone purchases and make-up services respectively.

Encouraged by the huge turnout and support, ARFC was determined to put up a good show. Starting with dependable Jinzhong in goal, the defence was marshaled by astute-reading sweeper Elvis with Towering Toh shielding him. Left-foot wizard Bernard and determined Huiming complete the defence. Sublime Khim, who turned up with a new pair of boots sponsored by ARFC, was at left flank while hard-working Tong was at the opposite flank. Sebastiano and hard-man Tjioe guarded the centre with powerful Alvin and Speedy Hee leading the front-line. The subs were quick-silver Derrick, entrepreneur Guoxiong, who forego $7,777 revenue to play in this match, reliable David Mak (father of Marco Mak), unpredictable Blackburn and used-to-be-speedy right-back Boon who was late as he was busy negotiating with Dennis Foo till late last night to allow all ARFC warriors free entry to St. James Power House as a reward.

ARFC quickly stamped its authority over the opponents but was let down by a couple of dubious refereeing calls. However, ARFC then steadied itself and started displaying their brand of attractive football known to all the 100,777 fans.

In the 17th min, a horrendous mis-clearance by their player after some harassing work by ARFC warriors resulted the ball landing at powerful Alvin’s foot. Pushing the ball forward, powerful Alvin outran their back-peddling defender and leashed home a powerful shot measuring at 177 km/hr, giving their keeper completely no chance at all. 1-0 and this was his 16th goal for ARFC.

7 minutes later, ARFC doubled its lead. A brilliant ball from unpredictable Blackburn, who just replaced speedy Hee, released powerful Alvin down the left flank. Looking up, powerful Alvin squared the ball across the goal-mouth and quick-silver Derrick, who just came in minutes earlier, come from behind to stab the ball home for his 7th ARFC goal. 2-0 and the stadium was rocking with all the feet-trampling ala Kallang Roar by the fans.

In the 27th min, a superb overlapping run down the flank by left-foot wizard saw him crossing the ball low into the area to an unmarked hard-working Tong. However, he took too long on the ball and it was eventually cleared by their defender.

In the 37th min came the miss of the season by powerful Alvin. After yet another superb through ball from unpredictable Blackburn, who unpredictably was to have a great game, to Speedy Hee down the left flank, speedy Hee outrun (of course!!) their right-back and relayed the ball to a completely, absolutely and totally unmarked powerful Alvin in the 6-yard box. Anticipating a third goal with the goal-mouth gaping, the 100,777 fans rose to its feet, preparing to celebrate by throwing their soiled condoms (for male fans) and bras (for female fans) onto the pitch. Even the stupid New Paper pundit, Tohari Paijan (who always talk nonsense and speak the obvious) said it would be a goal but to the whole world’s, including the watching crowd from Bhutan and Maldives, amazement, powerful Alvin side-footed the ball wide!!!!! However, the ARFC fans still applauded him as a form of encouragement.

Half-time 2-0 to ARFC. During the half-time, prizes were given to sublime Khim, reliable David Mak (father of Marco Mak), quick-silver Derrick and entrepreneur Guoxiong.

Strangely enough, ARFC started the second half with a messy display which was totally in stark contrast to its first half. This resulted in DSTA pulling a goal back in the 57th min. 2-1 now.

In the 67th min, Speedy Hee ran almost 77 metres to a lob ball by unpredictable Blackburn. Living up to his nickname, Speedy Hee outran everyone and reached the ball ahead of their advancing keeper. Alas, his lob was only 0.7 metres over the cross-bar.

In the 77th min, the hugely impressive quick-silver Derrick won a foul after being brought back by the opponent. Sebastiano stepped up, delivered an exquisite ball into the danger penalty box area. Under pressure from Towering Toh and quick-silver Derrick, their defender inexplicably handed the ball into his own net to give ARFC a 3-1 lead. This was the 12th own goal ever scored by ARFC’s opponents.

When the referee finally blew his whistle, several ARFC warriors can be seen collapsing onto the pitch due to the frantic pace of the game and large pitch. They only got better after the nurses, who are student nurses from Nanyang Polytechnic on attachment, gave them a good rub-down “up there” and a good rub-up “down there”.

Speaking to the reporters from STARsports, EPSN, The Sun, The Mirror, Fox TV and Al-Jazeera Network, a beeming Sebastiano enthused:

“Would like to thank all ARFC warriors for a good year which culminated in us winning second place in Classiq League 06. Though we are clearly not as fit as last time, the collective effort and spirit of all warriors at times carried us through the matches. Also, would like to thank all fans for their unrivalled support and also to my Babybaby, Ms Caren who is also the creator of our ARFC blog, for always being so understanding towards my soccer commitment to ARFC. Thanks once again and looking forward to many great years ahead with ARFC……”

ARFC triumped in friendly with 4-0 victory

In a match played on the wet ground at Braddell Stadium, Apex Rangers steam-rolled past a youthful Malay opponent 4-0. The match was watched by only 777 fans due to the rain and also many of the fans were away on leave enjoying their time in the beautiful beaches + bitches at Bali and Krabi.

ARFC started with Jinzhong in goal with the returning-from-honeymoon Towering Toh and astute-reading Elvis in front of him. Left-foot wizard Bernard and used-to-be-speedy right-back Boon were at left-back and right-back respectively. In the middle, Sebastiano and hard-man Tjioe, who just returned from a training stint with Freddy Adu in the US, guarded the centre, with Speedy Hee at left-mid and hard-working Tong at right-mid. Up front, the powerful Alvin partnered ARFC scoring legend, Haron. Kiat Gulam and unpredictable Blackburn were the subs, with determined Huiming sitting out the match.

Despite the wet ground, ARFC soon dominated proceedings and pressed the opponents no end. The match was barely 7 mins old when Speedy Hee fed a great slide-rule pass to ARFC scoring legend Haron who cleverly made space on the left side of the box. Outrunning their defender, Haron squared the ball in for powerful Alvin to open the scoring with his 14th goal for ARFC.

ARFC doubled the lead in the 17th min. A clever exchange of play between hardworking Tong and powerful Alvin resulted in the latter releasing ARFC scoring legend Haron with a through ball. With a great first touch that lined up the ball well, ARFC scoring legend Haron whacked the ball beyond the reach of their keeper to score his 100th goal for ARFC. His goal sparked off wild celebrations between the ARFC warriors and Kiat Gulam quickly seized the opportunity to use his latest 77 –mega-pixel digital camera to snap a shot of Haron’s markings on his torso. Excellent!! The 777 fans also rushed onto the pitch to mob Haron but luckily the Gurkha Contingent officers were quick to disperse the fanatical and passionate crowd.

In the 27th min, ARFC scoring legend Haron notched his second goal for the match after yet another great ball from powerful Alvin. His 101st goal for ARFC.

In the second half, the opponent tried their best to pull back a consolation goal. 7 minutes after the re-start, the Nigerian referee bizardly awarded a penalty after harshly judging Kiat Gulam of pulling back the opponent. However, their penalty-taker fluffed his chance after his re-taken penalty was smothered by the impressive Jinzhong who showed an assured pair of hands.

In the 67th min, hard-man Tjioe had a 27-yard pile driver superbly saved by their keeper.

ARFC scored its 4th goal in the 77th min after a fantastic long ball from unpredictable Blackburn to powerful Alvin who did not gave up the chase and eventually won the ball ahead of their defender and keeper to steer the ball into the empty net. That was his 15th goal for ARFC.

Just wish to add that astute-reading Elvis, left-wizard Bernard, hard-working Tong and powerful Alvin had a monster of a game. Used-to-be-speedy Right-back Boon also showed glimpses of his old form.

Speaking to the various reporters gathered at the post-match conference, ARFC scoring legend Haron was clearly over the moon:

“I am indeed privileged to be playing for ARFC. My centurion goals would not have been possible without all the great support from the ARFC warriors. Also, by notching up 2 goals, I also showed that my recent marriage did not affect my goal-scoring exploits. Once again, thank you ARFC warriors and to my lovely wife, thanks for the understanding…..”

ARFC overcomes stubborn KG Utd 1-0

In a match placed under cool weather, ARFC overcame a stubborn KG Utd 1-0 in front of the usual 77,777 fans at ITE Stadia.

Prior to the match, ARFC was severely hit with the absence of sublime Khim, Towering Toh, dependable David Mak (father of Marco Mak) and Speedy Hee. However, the blow was cushioned by the presence of turbo-engine Hock, WO Neo and the surprise appearance of used-to-be-speedy ARFC right-back Boon.

As usual, Jinzhong started in goal with astute-reading Elvis as the sweeper. Hard-working Tong was sacrificed to take over Towering Toh’s position as stopper, with determined Huiming and left-foot wizard Bernard guarding the flanks. Kiat Gulam partnered Sebastiano in the middle, while quick-silver Derrick has the unenviable task of taking over sublime Khim’s position as the left-midfielder. Turbo-engine Hock took up the right mid and the frontline was led by powerful Alvin with unpredictable Blackburn. ARFC scoring legend Haron, WO Neo and and used-to-be-speedy ARFC right-back Boon were the subs.

ARFC started confidently and soon blew away 2 chances in the opening minutes. KG Utd fought back and threatened ARFC on several occasions. However, ARFC defence, once again led superbly by astute-reading Elvis and ably supported by hard-working Tong, held firm. Unpredictable Blackburn and powerful Alvin linked up well with their clever ball-possession and wall-passes, and it was clear that unpredictable Blackburn was having his best game in many matches.

In the 27th min, turbo-engine Hock and unpredictable Blackburn linked up well on the right and the former then swung in a high cross into the box. The ball then somehow looped fortuitously over their keeper to open the scoring. 1-0 and this was turbo-engine Hock’s 14th goal for ARFC!!

In the second half, WO Neo and ARFC scoring legend Haron replaced powerful Alvin and unpredictable Blackburn, while used-to-be-speedy Boon took over determined Huiming’s right-back position, who took over the stopper’s role. Hardworking Tong moved up to partner Sebastiano in the middle.

As minutes ticked by, KG Utd began to show their frustration and frequently contested the referee’s decisions. KG Utd also had problems coping with both quick-silver Derrick’s trickery and turbo engine Hock’s pace on both flanks, which resulted in both of them being fouled frequently.

In the 57th min, quick-silver Derrick then provided a comical moment. While holding the ball at the left flank, his legs suddenly went “jelly” and collapsed in a heap which drew loud laughter from the crowd.

In the 67th min, ARFC scoring legend Haron nearly scored his centurion goal for ARFC off a goal-mouth melee but the loose ball was cleared for a corner by their defender.

When the referee blew the final whistle, the crowd went wild as the 1-0 victory meant that ARFC is assured of at least a 2nd place finish in the League.

Speaking to the crowd of reporters at the post-match interview, Sebastiano thanked the crowd for their great support:

“You fans are the best!! Without your support, ARFC would not have bounced back from 2 defeats to clinch at least 2nd place. Though we missed Towering Toh’s aerial prowess and sublime Khim’s clever play, the rest of the ARFC warriors who turned up today proved to be capable replacements, especially quick-silver Derrick who had a fantastic game. Turbo-engine Hock, astute-reading Elvis also had a great game, as did powerful Alvin and unpredictable Blackburn. Thank you once again”

After the match, KG Utd’s captain SMSed Sebastiano to convey his apologies for causing the mayhem during the match.

ARFC staged remarkable comeback for 4-4 draw

In a morning match played under scorching sun at Stadia de Braddell, ARFC staged a remarkable comeback from 0-3 down to snatch a 4-4 draw against a young team comprising of mainly Indian players.

ARFC was severely hit with unavailability of many of its first-choice warriors like ARFC scoring legend Haron, sublime Khim, turbo-engine Hock, Kiat Gulam, powerful Alvin an quick-silver Derrick. Coupled with the fact that it was a late morning game and also an ‘away’ game, only about 7,000 fans turned up. Word has it that it was also a silent protest over the non-approval budget of $6969 for a high-tech digital camera.

ARFC started with Jinzhong in goal, astute-reading Elvis as sweeper, determined Huiming as stopper, ever-green Eng Lai as right-back and reliable David Mak (father of Marco) as left-back. Ever-improving Bernard has the unenviable task of taking over sublime Khim’s role as left-midfield, WO Neo took up the right flank, Towering Toh and unpredictable Blackburn as the centre midfielders. Up front, returning British punk Damian was partnered by Speedy Hee. Hardworking Tong and Sebastiano were the only 2 subs.

Clearly unaccustomed by only 7,000 fans and the away pitch, ARFC was soon in disarray. With 17 minutes, ARFC fell behind by 2 goals which were gifted to the opponents as the defence failed to deal with balls sent in properly. Sebastiano immediately rectified the situation by sending in hard-working Tong to stabilize the midfield as unpredictable Blackburn and Towering Toh were clearly struggling. Back to the heart of the defence, Towering Toh was at his best once again. Sebastiano also replaced the impressive WO Neo at right flank, with evergreen Eng Lai being withdrawn to be replaced at right-back by determined Huiming.

With the changes, ARFC began to play the attractive football that its fanatical fans are used to week-in week-out. In the 27th min, off a brilliant cross from the right by hard-working Tong, fast-improving Bernard took aim and unleashed a superb volley that was destined for goal. Alas, the well-struck volley cannoned off their lunging defender and there goes fast-improving Bernard’s chance of his first-ever goal for ARFC.

When the referee blew for half-time, ARFC was booed off the pitch by the traveling fans for trailing by 0-2.

Upset by the booing, ARFC quickly settled down and was determined to play the attractive football. However, tragedy struck just 7 minutes after the re-start. A rare horrendous error by astute-reading Elvis resulted his ball being robbed by the striker who easily shot past Jinzhong despite a last-minutes lung by Towering Toh. 0-3 and the fans began raining toilet rolls, coins, pagers and used condoms onto the pitch.

Barely minutes later, unpredictable delivered a brilliant ball out on the right to WO Neo who took a touch before leashing the ball in expertly to spark the come-back. This was WO Neo’s 42nd goal for ARFC.

7 minutes later, ARFC won an indirect free-kick almost at the right touch-line of the penalty box after their keeper handled a back-pass. Again, unpredictable Blackburn took the kick and aimed at the lurking Sebastiano. However, before the ball could reach Sebastiano, Towering Toh got to the ball first and side-footed the ball home for his 20th goal for ARFC. 2-3 now!!

In the 67th min, their striker scored a superb outside foot shot that looped over Jinzhong. 4-2 and ARFC looked dead and buried!!!

ARFC however did not give up and continued pressing the opponents. Towering Toh nearly scored his 2nd goal in the match but his shot in the box was touched onto the post by their keeper. Returning British punk Damian also had a goal disallowed, while unpredictable Blackburn’s neat header was controversially ruled out for off-side. Dependable David Mak (father of Marco Mak) also found himself very very free in the box but as he took more than 7 seconds to take shot, the ball was cleared by their defender.

In the 77th min, fast-improving Bernard whipped in a cross from the left but the ball was headed out of the box by their tall Indian defender. Unfortunately, the ball fell to Sebastiano who was about 7 metres outside the penalty box. With a great first touch, Sebastiano brought the ball down, took aim and chipped a fantabulous ball in to the top right-hand corner that had the keeper beaten all the way. 3-4 now!!

Sensing a great come-back, the 7,000 fans roared on and on and on and on. In the last minute, the cheering finally brought dividends to ARFC. Unpredictable Blackburn picked up a loose ball on the right flank, looked up and sent in the ball for the lurking Bernard. Again, Bernard looked to have finally open his accounts for ARFC but he was pushed from behind by their clumsy defender, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot. Up stepped Damian to coolly dispatched the penalty to the bottom left corner for his 10th goal for ARFC and also capped off an impressive all-round display by him.

Speaking to Charlie Webster of ESPN during the post-match interview, fast-improving Bernard rued the great opportunity to score his first-ever ARFC goal:

“KNN!! I kan suay today. I thought can score from my volley in the 1st half but the F#@$%^ defender dunno come from where and block my volley. I could also have scored in the last-min but the CB defender pushed me to the floor. But, ok lah, at least I won a penalty which salvaged the draw.”

Though ARFC managed to stage a remarkable come-back after going 0-3 down, the draw came with heavy price as Speedy Hee and WO Neo were both hurt in the process and would most likely miss the next match. Speedy Hee has since been sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment where he will be well look after by the PRC and Filipino nurses. WO Neo is not so lucky – he was sent to the military out-patient clinic near the Lim Chu Kang area where he was attended by some “ah-gua” medic.

Request for $6969 budget turned down

After intense, careful and deliberate consideration at a high-level meeting held at the Island Ballroom at Shangri-la Hotel involving ARFC Board of Directors and Founders, David Mak (father of Marco Mak), determined Huiming and WO Neo, it has been decided that Kiat Gulam's request of $6969 for a James-Bond digital and digital camera has been turned down.
Speaking to reporters from Lianhe Zaobao, Straits Times, TODAY, Berita Harian, Tamil Marusu, SinMing Daily, Asian Wall Street Journal, Reuters, AFP, ESPN, BBC, Cleo, Her World, Female, FHM and Maxim, David Mak (father of Marco Mak) explains:
"Actually, the requested budget would have been approved if it was just a dollar more , ie$7,000, as under the Article 7(7i) of ARFC's Constitution, all figures have to have at least a "7" digit to be eligible for publication and consideration. Nevertheless, I have conveyed our decision to Kiat Gulam and he will be putting up a revised budget once he is sober from his wild nightly drinking sessions at MOS and St. James Power House."
The decision immediately caused a huge furore within the 7 km radius of ITE Stadia. 77 unidentified die-hard female fans demonstrated their protest by stripping naked and walked for 777 metres, causing huge traffic jams near the stadia.
A bikini-clad female fan, who is a huge admirer of Towering Toh, slammed the decision "What the fuck!! Why can't the budget be approved? With a better camera, at least I can download clearer pictures of my baby Towering Toh's superb headed goals. KNN"
Another sexy babe, who is believed to hail from China, enthused "Tui Ma! , Ru Guo You Hao de xiang ji, wo jiu ke yi pai keng hao wo de ai ren powerful Alvin de feng cai. Rang hou, wo ke yi ji que zhong guo!!"
(Translation: Correct! If there is a good camera, I can take better pictures of my suave powerful Alvin. Then, I can send to China."
Another 7 female fans, who look like they are not more than 17 years old, shouted "Buy a better camera now!! We need to see clearly Speedy Hee's speed as the old camera cannot give a good image as Speedy Hee is too fast!!"
In view of the huge uproar, the ARFC Board of Directors would be convening another urgent meeting to address the issue. The decision will be announced in due course.......

Kiat Gulam clarifies matters.....

To hard-man Tjioe:

Actually not. ARFC did not steam-rolled all our opponents for this tournament ( Please check out website www.sghomeground.com) as we have already lost 2 game in the earlier part of the tournament but have since revenged with terrific win against them when we did the replay. Well said!!We're no longer vibrant young & busted up turbo-charged energy combo Ferraris speed players (With exception of Speedy Hee & Stamino HuiMing) hence collective teamwork is much more an emphasis nowadays in our team strategy to bring back those precious points. Fat, Old or ugly is no longer the taboo topics in our ARFC camp. As long as we keep winning all our matches (Tournaments or Friendlies)..the board of directors of ARFC will not stop your fast cars, unlimited booze, sex orgies and rock & roll parties.:-)

KG: Quality video clips is lousy?? That's the only available video camera we have on our dusty ARFC shelves!! In fact, I have submitted my budget of US$6969 to purchase a brand new high tech Sony video-cam with state-of-art mega pixel of 9999bits resolution pending our ARPC financial director Sebastiano Rossi for his final approval. I will expedite to get the cold cash out from him to make the purchase for this new techno geek so that we can even capture the number of pimples in each ARFC players face on the field with such amazing resolution.

The meagre 7 hardcores ARFC fans left on the ITE Stadia?? It was very unfortunate that most of the 77,770 fans started streaming out of the stadia from the 69minutes onwards as they are international big time punters from America~Armenia & Zambia~Zaire and thus after knowing well ARFC had took control of the game..they made quick exit to catch their Northwest and Ethopia airline back home to collect their winnings.

As for the Hokkien vulgarities spewed out from those meagre few Hokkien bengs..dont be alarmed as they are just small time tiny punters who bet against ARFC and we have unfortunately made them lose their hard earned $2 from the backlane Geylang roadside betting booths.

Do not fret. By the time you hit the ground with us, we will surely have the state-of-art video cameras live telecast on ESPN & Starsports channels and the stadia wil not be filled with Punters like Ethopians niggers, Americans whites or Geylang Bengs due to our step up gate control in the entrance. ARFC board will only admit entrance to sexy bikinis cladded females blondes, brunnettes & Chinese Asian or maybe exotic Mongolians as well...:-)

To astute-reading Elvis:

Right!!The increased mass of you really brings solid stability for our ARFC defence line like a Russian made T72 tanks where even the Americans Brady couldnt even brings you down nor over run you. :-) Kekeke.....

hard-man Tjioe coming back for good......

Great to hear that Apex is steam rolling past all our opponents....I still remember the last classiq league we participated in, opponents (i.e. Thai team) were much stronger than Aces, we still managed to finish as champions. No matter how fat or how old we have become, the spirit of Apex shall live on!!!

The quality of the video is lousy, can anybody brng a better video cam? Clips are all only 7 seconds long. Theres is hardly more than 7 fans. The commentary is only full of hokkien vulgarities. Bring on some real TV crew for the next game!

All the best,
28
Will be back on the 9 Dec for good!

Elvis' "big sacrifice" for ARFC

Harlow...who's talking...who is oversize. Wa kao, isacrifice my previous muscular body for an oversizebody just to prevent the opponents from knocking medown. Did you ever see anybody knocking me down afteri become oversized? no right, thats mean i hadsucceeded...hahahaa

Fired-up ARFC exacts revenge on Aces Utd with 4-2 victory

In the top-of-the-table clash between Aces United and Apex Rangers FC (ARFC), a fired-up ARFC defeated Aces Utd 4-2 in front of the usual-fanatical and boisterous 77,777 fans at ITE Stadia.

As the fixture was a top-of-the-table clash, traffic jams were seen stretching from CTE AMK Ave 5 to Chin Swee Road and also TPE all the way to Woodlands Ave 2. This resulted in the TP of the SPF deploying all their available resources just for this match. Nevertheless, another 17,777 were still locked out of the stadia but this time round, ARFC Board of Directors had already forseen this situation and had erected 7 LCD 777-inches outside the stadia for their viewing pleasure.

Seeing such fanatical support, all ARFC warriors were fired-up as can be seen in their vigorous warm-ups. Also, for the first time in probably 7 years, we have 18 ARFC warriors turning up for this game!!!

As usual, Jinzhong started in goal with astute-reading Elvis and Towering Toh at the heart of the defence. Fast-improving Bernard and Kiat Gulam guarded the flanks and they were supported by sublime Khim and turbo-engine Hock in front of them. Sebastiano and hard-working Tong were in the middle of the park and the front-line paired quick-silver Derrick and powerful Alvin. The subs were ARFC scoring legend Haron (as he was late), unpredictable Blackburn, David Mak (father of Marco Mak), determined Huiming, Speedy Hee, returning British punk Damian Pereira and new-boy hard-man Ron. The match was also graced by used-to-be-speedy right-back, Boon who is now a successful banker after making profits of $7 million after investing in “UK Land” with Profitable Plots.

When the referee blew the starting whistle, ARFC immediately pressed them as they were all fired-up by the cheering fans. However, Aces Utd held its ground well and threatened to score first. ARFC’s backline, once again ably led by astute-reading Elvis, was able to repel their attacks.

In the 17th min, ARFC won a corner after some relentless pressure. Powerful Alvin flighted in a measured corner and amidst the goal-mouth scramble, Towering Toh “toe-poked” the ball in for the opening goal which prompted chantings of “Toh, Toh, Toh” round the stadia. This was also Towering Toh’s 19th goal for ARFC.

Aces Utd, however, was not the League leaders for nothing. In the 27th min, Sebastiano failed to prevent their play-maker from running through the centre and he solo all the way to slot in their equalizer. 1-1

Nevertheless, ARFC did not lose heart and continued harassing and closing down on their opponents. Off one such pressure 7 minutes later, their keeper inexplicably handled a back-pass and an in-direct free-kick was awarded just outside the 6-yard box. Powerful Alvin took a touch before turbo-engine Hock thumped the ball in with a slight ricochet off their defender that almost burst the net. ESPN replay indicated that the speed of the shot was measured at 777 km/hr. This was turbo-engine Hock’s 13th goal for ARFC.

ARFC forwards then proceeded to miss several glitz-edged chances which could have buried Aces Utd by half-time. When referee blew for the half-time whistle, ARFC warriors were greeted by thunderous applause from the fans. 2-1!!

In the 2nd-half, Sebastiano made a string of changes to give all a chance to play. The most significant change was of course, ARFC scoring legend Haron. 7 minutes after the re-start, another world-class ball from sublime Khim put Haron through. However, their keeper was also charging for the ball and it would appear that Haron might not have made it. Haron’s lovely wife-to-be then shouted “Abang, lari lari lari” which seemed to work as Haron managed to get to the ball before their keeper did. The ball then rolled into the open goal at a speed of 77 metres/hr. 3-1!!!

In the 67th min, unpredictable Blackburn received a ball on the right and sent it straight to Speedy Hee who controlled the ball expertly before lifting the ball to Haron. Taking a quick touch, ARFC scoring legend did not disappoint the partisan crowd as he chipped over the on-rushing keeper with a Peter Beardsley-type of execution. 4-1 and this was Haron’s 99th goal for ARFC. His goal also sparked off wild celebrations at the stands and all kind of stuff such as underwear, condoms, toilet rolls, paper scraps ala Bueno Aires World Cup in 1978, were thrown onto the jogging track. A female streaker with wordings “I Love ARFC” was even seen running round the track before being subdued by the security staff

7 mins later, Aces Utd managed to pull a goal but ARFC held firm for a convincing 4-2 victory!!!

During the post-match interview with Jamie Yeo of ESPN, ARFC Board of Directors Kiat Gulam was ecstatic with the win.

“I am really proud to be a member of ARFC. We have proved to others that despite all the wild drinking, sex, drugs and rock n roll, ARFC warriors can still put in a decent game of football. I wanna thank all fans for turning up which was crucial to us. Thanks once again.”

Immediately after giving his comments, Kiat Gulam was spotted chatting-up Jamie to arrange for a drinking session at Club de 632………

ARFC Players 6 stars rating performance ends Aces Utd unbeaten reigns!!!!!

Pictures of ApexRangers VS Aces Utd FC - 12 Nov 2006 [Classiq league Tournament 2006]

Picture 1 : ApexRangers players celebrating their triumphant 4-2 win after the game.
Picture 2 : Aces Utd players preparing before the kick-off.
Picture 3 : ARFC top striker Haronaldo getting all ready for the 2nd half.

In this drizzly afternoon, ApexRangers players displayed a truly 6 star rating performance & ended Aces Utd FC glorious unbeaten run in the Classiq league tournament. It was a much anticipated match between these 2 favourites in this Classiq league but there can only be 1 well-deserved winner and the bravado ApexRangers emerged victorious after a closely hard fought 90minutes between the 2 in ITE Stadia.

All the ARFC players were determined to avenge their last defeat when they lost 3-6 to the league leader ACES United team in their last meeting. It was certainly no surprise that the reputable Aces Utd FC is nonetheless a class above all the rest whipping several participating teams with exhorbitant margins and rarely conceding any goals. However, it was not to be this time round as all the ApexRangers players rose to the occasion and sent group leader ACES UTD FC thumping to their 1st defeat of the season with a truly well-deserved 4-2 win!! Thus, this ends their fairytale running up to this tournament & their proud unbeaten record broken into tattered misery.

In short, ApexRangers FC stamped its authority on the field right from the start of this exciting game. They took swift control of the tempo, cutting down ACES Utd advances but wasted several glorious misses during the beginning 15minutes. Not to be despair and learning from their last lesson, ApexRangers demonstrated great camaraderie team spirits and undeter determination to prove that they have not lost any of their ferocious bite against their formidable ACES players . Everyone on the pitch took on this huge responsiblities on their shoulder like a heavy sand bag and battered an equally impressive ACES team by putting in a steely performance to match their tough opponents. When the final whistle blew, they have managed to pin down Aces Utd with an astounding 4-2 win. This victorious win not only savaged the 3 important points they had lost previously to ACES UTD but bringing back the pride & glory they once held as the defending champion in the Year 2000 tournament.

It was definately a sweet revenge for all the ARFC players who played in this afternoon putting in no less than 101% effort while pushing their ever impressive opponents all the way throughout the whole of the 90 tiring minutes. It was simply not just a job well-done but done it so perfectly well with a collective camaraderie spirits ,efforts & cohesive teamwork which is truly commendable. When the match finally comes to an agonising end for the ACES team, it was in contrary that all the proud ApexRangers players are holding their head high in the skies to register this triumphant victory knowing that they have put in their utmost best without letting anyone in the team down. They truly played to their strength today with another remarkable win in ARFC history.

We will surely look forward to their next 2 games against the ever improving KG Utd and the unpredictable Marauders FC to end this gruelling season where the champion medals lies not quite far ahead from this amazing team.

ARFC blog founder wins in her first mahjong session

I am pleased to announce that our ARFC blog founder, Ms Caren Lim, has successfully played her very-first mahjong session with her 3 female colleagues on Saturday. And yes, virgin luck also brought her $12 winnings…….

ARFC demolished Yaakeen!!

In a crucial match played fine weather, ARFC blazed Yaakeen 5-1 in front of the boisterous 77,777 fans at ITE Stadia. It was also reported that due to the crucial fixture, about 7,777 fans were locked out of the stadia for security reasons. However, the Board of Directors quickly erected a 77-inch giant plasma Hitachi TV for the fans to enjoy just outside the stadia.

ARFC received a “bad-news brown” when determined Huiming pulled out with a virus the previous night, though sources revealed that he was “working HARD all night” on Saturday. However, ARFC also received a huge boost when turbo-engine Hock, evergreen Eng Lai and David Mak (father of Marco Mak) unexpectedly turned up, prompting chants round the stadia. Of course, the usual suspects were also present for the match.

Jinzhong started in goal, with astute-reading Elvis, Towering Toh, fast-improving Bernard and Kiat Gulam forming the rear-guard. In the midfield, Sebastiano, hardworking Tong, sublime Khim and quick-silver Derrick were deployed. Up front, ARFC scoring legend Haron was partnered by powerful Alvin. Speedy Hee, unpredictable Blackburn, turbo-engine Hock, evergreen Eng Lai and David Mak (father of Marco Mak) were the substitutes.

Clearly heartened by the attendance of 16, the full-house crowd of 77,777 as well as the locked-out 7,777 fans, ARFC warriors immediately went for the jugular right from the whistle. However, ARFC has to endure a few scares as Yaakeen was a good team and had threatened to open the scoring in the opening minutes. Despite so, ARFC held firm thanks to the strong defence led by astute-reading Elvis.
ARFC took the lead in the 7th min. Picking up a loose ball right outside Yaakeen’s penalty box, sublime Khim took a touch and let fly a thunderous shot that had the crowd up on their feet, anticipating a goal. True enough, sublime Khim’s shot landed at the top-left corner that almost burst the net. 1-0!!! The goal led to 7 Mexican waves round the stadia. It was sublime Khim’s 18th goal for ARFC

7 minutes later, ARFC grabbed goal No. 2. Off a superb delivered corner from powerful Alvin, ARFC scoring legend, Haron (who else?) showed tremendous anticipation by stooping low to head past their keeper for his 97th ARFC goal. Chants of “Haron, Haron” went for almost 7 minutes.

In the 27th min, ARFC scored the third goal. Picking up a return ball off his throw-in, quick-silver Derrick whipped in a long ball over to the left and up stepped sublime Khim to exquisitely and expertly side-footed the ball at the bottom right-hand corner. Wonderful and truly world-class execution!! (Someone please help me – I’m running out of superlatives for sublime Khim already!!!!)

7 minutes later, another flowing move by the forwards resulted the ball rolled out to the unmarked quick-silver Derrick. Taking about 7 seconds, quick-silver Derrick coolly placed the ball beyond their keeper’s reach for ARFC’s 4th goal and his 6th goal in his short but productive ARFC career.

In the 37th min, speedy Hee replaced powerful Alvin and he made his presence felt immediately. Off another well-measured pass from sublime Khim, speedy Hee lived up to his nick-name by out-pacing their left-back and swept the ball in. 5-0!!! Wonderful speed!!! Speedy Hee’s goal also took him to the top-5 in the ARFC scoring charts with his 42nd goal, just one goal behind 4th-place Sebastiano’s 43 goals and 1 more than 6th-place WO Neo’s 41 goals.

ARFC then made a string of substitutions in the second half. In the 57th min, Yaakeen pulled a goal back when their midfielder scored a consolation goal with a 47-metres lob over Jinzhong, who was otherwise having a fantastic match with his safe-handling.

As usual, turbo-engine Hock impressed with his hard-running and strength, David Mak (father of Marco Mak) was his usual dependable self, and evergreen Eng Lai had clearly improved. Hard-working Tong was industrious, fast-improving Bernard showed good tackles, powerful Alvin and speedy Hee impressed with good harassing of the opponents, Towering Toh once again ruled in the air, astute-reading Elvis was unbeatable and even managed to bring the ball out of defence on several occasions, Kiat Gulam and Sebastiano were normal, Jinzhong was steady, ARFC scoring legend contributed with his usual high standard. This leaves us with quick-silver Derrick who gave another outstanding game. In fact, he was so good that the opponents targeted him and brought him down time and again whenever he has the ball. But credit to him for not retaliating as we all know that 3-year ago Derrick would surely have landed a Mike Tyson punch straight away!! J

And yes, how can we forget sublime Khim, who was simply out of this world with another breath-taking 7-star performance!!! He should be playing with Steven Gerrard!!!

In the post-match interview with Charlie Webster, David Mak (father of Marco Mak), who is also one of the ARFC founders, was clearly over the moon:

“I wanna thank my lovely wife, Dora and certainly not speedy Hee, for her understanding in allowing me to come for this crucial match. If not, I would have missed out a sterling ARFC performance and sublime Khim’s both goals which are certainly Goals-of-the-Season”.

It should be noted that while David Mak (father of Marco Mak) was giving his interview to Charlie Webster, his eyes somehow was looking at the chest-level…..

ARFC 5-1 Demolition of formidable Yaakeen FC!!!

Wedding news......

I am pleased to announce that our ARFC scoring legend, Haron, will be getting married on 10 Dec 06 at the Nee Soon Community Club located at No. 30 Yishun Street 81 from 1700 hrs to 2000 hrs.

Some of the ARFC warriors have already received their invitation cards and I believed that Haron should be dishing out some more cards for the other ARFC warriors.

On a separate but also wedding news, Neo Boon Heng, brother of WO Neo, will be having his wedding dinner on 09 Dec 06, which is just one day before Haron's wedding.

Let's party!!!

ARFC overcome determined Loop Revil

In a match played under “no-haze” but hot weather, ARFC overcome Loop Revil 2-0 in front of the returning 77,777 fanatical fans.

Just hours prior to kick-off, ARFC received a crushing news when fast-improving Bernard pulled off due to some last-minute personal commitment. As a result, ARFC only has 11 players to start.

Hardworking Tong volunteered to be GK and he was shielded by astute-reading Elvis, Towering Toh, fit-again Blackburn and determined Huiming at left and right back respectively. Kiat Gulam and Sebastiano were at the centre, with sublime Khim and quick-silver Derrick at left and right flank respectively. Up front, speedy Hee and powerful Alvin led the line in the absence of ARFC scoring legend Haron.

ARFC quickly seized control of proceedings but the opponent put up a determined fight. Just 7 mins into the game, a diagonal long ball from unpredictable Blackburn found the feet of quick-silver Derrick who in turn angled a through ball for Speedy Hee. Naturally, Speedy Hee lived up to his name and thumped the ball into the net for a 1-0 lead.

In the 17th min, ARFC won a free-kick on the right. Spotting their keeper way off his line, Sebastiano delivered a free-kick that bounced off the cross-bar. Unlucky!!

Just minutes before the end of half-time, Speedy Hee received a hefty kick and was carried off to be replaced by ARFC scoring legend Haron who arrived just minutes earlier. The referee soon blew his whistle for the half-time.

In the second half, ARFC continued its assault on the opponent’s goal. However, ARFC was left down by some way-ward finishing and very very surprisingly and to the shock of the 77,777 fans, sublime Khim was one of the culprits.

Luckily, Jinzhong arrived after his work and replaced Tong at goal with hard-working Tong partnering Sebastiano, who was clearly tiring by now, at midfield to lend some bite.

Sublime Khim, however, soon made up for his prolifacy by creating yet another goal in the 67th min. Getting the ball near the centre, he delivered a measured ball right up into the path of powerful Alvin who simply toe-poked the ball into the net. His goal sparked wild celebrations from an unnamed babe from China who nearly took off her Liverpool jersey. However, the security staff at ITE Stadia had already learnt its lessons as last week an unnamed female fan also threw her bra and panties at Sebastiano, and quickly stopped the unnamed babe from doing so.

When the referee blew the final whistle, the 77,777 fans applauded ARFC warriors for clinching a efficient win.

Nevertheless, ARFC owed its victory not only to the 2 scorers, but astute-reading Elvis, Towering Toh, Blackburn, determined Huiming and Kiat Gulam for stopping some sporadic attacks by the opponent. Astute-reading Elvis and Towering Toh especially had a superb game. Quick-silver Derrick also had a superb game. Jinzhong also made 2 crucial interventions after coming on.

ARFC blog founder passes basic mahjong test

I am pleased to announce that our ARFC blog founder, Ms Caren Lim, has passed the basic mahjong test conducted on 28 Oct 06 between 1700 hrs to 1800 hrs at the president suite located at Mandarin Gardens.

In the interview after her test, Ms Caren said that she is looking forward to mahjong session with the established ARFC warriors like David Mak (father of Marco Mak) and his lovely wife, Speedy Hee, used-to-be-speedy ARFC right-back Boon, WO Neo, hardworking Tong and ARFC scoring legend Haron.

Tournament Game on 29 Oct 06 @ 3 pm @ ITE AMK

ARFC warriors:

ARFC resumes its tournament game on 29 Oct 06 @ 3 pm @ ITE AMK against Loop Revil...

Supporters of any kind are welcome...

Headliner of the week - 22 Oct 06

Headliner 1: "Return of ARFC tigerish right-back!!"

Headliner 2: "Speedy Hee cements his place as ARFC's No. 2 GK"

Headliner 4: "Guest player Raymond's 100% scoring record"

ARFC strolled to victory in friendly.....

Dear ARFC warriors,
In a match played in front of just 77 fans again due to the haze, ARFC strolled to a 5-0 victory over an enthusiastic opponent.
Just before the match, ARFC received some bad news as Haron, Hock and Jinzhong all withdrew due to last-min work commitment. However, the blow was cushioned by the unexpected presence of fit-again Blackburn and the used-to-be-speedy right-back Boon as well as the hardworking Tong. Raymond, the talented but at times selfish player, also helped out once again.
Boon started in goal, with Sebastiano, Huiming, Bernard and Kiat Gulam forming the "arsenal rear-guard". Speedy Hee and Raymond took up the left and right flank respectively, with Tjioe and hardworking Tong guarding the centre. Up front, WO Neo and powerful Alvin led the line in the absence of ARFC scoring legend Haron. Fit-again but unpredictable Blackburn is the only sub.
ARFC soon stamped its authority on the game. After missing some half-chances, ARFC opened the scoring in the 7th min. A good move on the left involving Bernard, Speedy Hee and Tong resulted in a nice ball down the left for powerful Alvin who delivered a weighted cross for WO Neo to sweep in his 41st goal for ARFC. 1-0!!
However, some wayward finishing by ARFC warriors resulted in only a 1-0 lead into the second-half. Of special note was when WO Neo put the ball into row ZZZ with an open gaping goal at his mercy in the 37 min.
Sebastiano then make a string of positional changes. Barely 70 seconds into the second half, ARFC extended its lead when a ball from Kiat Gulam on the right to the left found Blackburn who laid on the ball for powerful Alvin to leash home his 12th goal for ARFC. 2-0!!
7 mins later, a superb weight ball down the right for Kiat Gulam from Sebastiano saw Kiat Gulam placed the ball home for his 24th goal for ARFC. 3-0 now!!
17 mins later, ARFC furthered its lead when Raymond laid on the ball to Sebastiano in the middle. Spotted that Raymond had continued his run, Sebastiano returned the ball with a chipped ball for him to run almost 47 metres and sidefooted the ball home. This was Raymond's 3rd goal in his 3rd game for ARFC. 100% goal-scoring record. 4-0!!
7 mins from the end, Raymond sent a cross from the right and Sebastiano managed to beat the on-rushing defender for the ball. Taking his time, Sebastiano curled a measured ball into the top right-corner that gave the keeper no chance at all. This was Sebastiano's 43rd goal for ARFC. 5-0!!
Immediately after the goal, an unidentified female fan ran into the field and threw her bra and panties at Sebastiano, who was clearly amused at the passionate fan.
It was great to see the return of Boon who gave a whole-hearted performance at right-back. Speedy Hee also performed well once again when he took up the keeper position in the 2nd half, thereby cementing his place as the No. 2 GK in ARFC.
We will miss the physical presence of Tjioe who will only return sometime in mid-Dec.

super retro pictures

Just wanna express my gratitude to Kiat Gulam for rolling back the good old years by publishing our "super retro" pictures then....

An informed source commented that our Speedy Hee had changed the most - from an innocent and young looking guy to a "chow-lao" looking person...... :P

Tjioe staying another week....

IPPT update of ARFC warriors

I am pleased to announce that our used-to-be-speedy right back, Boon, has astonishingly passed his IPPT test conducted recently. Congratulations to him, though our ARFC sources revealed that Boon has dangled an undisclosed sum for him to pass....

On a sadder note, our astute-reading sweeper, Elvis, failed his chin-up and running, and thereby has to report for more training. Sources revealed that he is now in Brunei under-going extremely tough Navy Seal-type of training....We look forward to a fitter and slimmer Elvis when he returns.....

ARFC strolled to easy victory

In a match specially arranged to commemorate Tjioe’s return to Singapore (albeit only for 2 weeks), ARFc strolled to an easy 4-0 victory over a young but enthusiastic Indian team. The match was witnessed by only 77 fans due to the haze created by our Indonesian friends.

The haze also severely affected the attendance of ARFC as only half the usual team was present. As a result, 4 outsiders were activated to help out. Just before the start of the match and while changing at the side-line, returning Tjioe realised that he had brought his working leather shoes instead of his soccer boots. Thankfully, he was able to borrow a pair from the pitch organizer.

ARFC started with ARFC scoring legend Haron in goal, Sebastian and Toh partner at the centre of defence with Bernard and Kiat Gulam flanking it. David Heng (guest player) was the right-winger, Tjioe and Raymond (guest player) at the centre and Weng Tuck (guest player) on the left. Up front, Speedy Hee was joined by Zongzi (another guest player). No subs at all!!!

Predictably, ARFC soon gained control of proceedings but was let down by some lackluster display. Speedy Hee got into very good scoring situations but both were very well-saved by their drama-mama keeper. Tjioe also showed signs of rustiness in the first half. The half-time ended 0-0 and ARFC was booed off the pitch by the 77 fans.

Not wanting to let the 77 fans down, Sebastian immediately brought about a change of positions. Scoring legend Haron returned to his predatory self with David Heng partnering him. Speedy He took over the keeper, Weng Tuck goes to right-back, with Kiat Gulam partnering Tjioe and Zongzi goes to the left. Tiring Weng Tuck, who was playing his 3rd game of the day, goes to right-back with impressive Raymond on the right flank.

Barely 70 seconds in the second half, ARFC opened the scoring. A series of brilliant exchange of passes between Bernard, Zongzi, Tjioe resulted in Kiat Gulam delivering a through ball to Haron who raced clear of their defence and faced their keeper. In a move similar to Adebayor’s goal last night, Haron squared the ball to the on-rushing Raymond who easily slot the ball home. 1-0!!

7 minutes later, ARFC went 2-0 up. Kiat Gulam threaded another brilliant pass to Tjioe who delivered an exquisite lob over their keeper for his 31st goal for ARFC. Brilliant!!!!

Another 7 minutes later, scoring legend Haron could have added to his goals tally but his well-executed rebounded off the bar after their keeper was hopelessly beaten. Unlucky!!

In the 67th min, ARFC won a free-kick about 27 metres away from goal. Haron dummied the ball and Tjioe drove home the 3rd goal!! Perfect!!!

In the 77th min, Speedy Hee pulled off 2 top-class saves to preserve the clean sheet. With these saves, he would be officially promoted to ARFC’s 2nd –choice keeper.
70 seconds before the end, ARFC won another free-kick just outside the box. Sebastiano made his only foray upfront to take the kick and scored ARFC’s 4th goal with a well-placed free-kick that had their keeper beaten all the way.

In the post-match interview, Tjioe was happy with his 2 goals but felt that he could have netted a hat-trick if Sebastiano did not take the last free-kick. He informed that he would be back again in mid-December 06 to put on the prestigious ARFC jersey.

ARFC laboured to a 5-3 victory against Serangoon Uncle FC

In a match played under the capacity crowd of 77,777 at ITE Stadia, ARFC laboured to a 5-3 victory over the winless Serangoon Uncle FC.

Due to lack of GK, quick-silver Derrick volunteered to be in goal. In defence, the 4 stalwarts remained, astute-reading Elvis, Towering Toh, Bernard and Huiming. In midfield, Sebastiano and Kiat Gulam guard the centre to be flanked by sublime Khim and WO Neo. Up front, powerful Alvin partnered Speedy Hee who returned after missing last week's macth due to his negotiations with all the IMF protesters. ARFC scoring legend Haron, still-injured and unpredictible Blackburn and later, Jinzhong, were the subs.

The match was only 7 mins old when Sebastiano hit a measured diagonal long ball into the path of the onrushing sublime Khim who side-footed the ball home for a 1-0 lead.

7 mins later, off a through ball from sublime Khim to powerful Alvin, the latter was clumsily tripped by their defender and up stepped astute-reading Elvis to send the GK the wrong way with his penalty. This would be only Elvis' 3rd goal for ARFC. 2-0.

ARFC then squandered chances after chances and powerful Alvin was the chief culprit. WO Neo also missed an open goal (ala Bellamy's effort against Tottenham on Saturday).

Serangoon Uncle FC soon made ARFC paid for its watsefulness. In the 27th min, a horrendous mistake by Bernard resulted in them pulling a goal back.

Worse was to come 7 mins later. The opponent flighted the ball in from the free-kick and the enitre ARFC defence stood rooted. As a result, their player "stomached" the ball in for the equaliser. Half-time 2-2.

ARFC was booed off by their faithful fans at half-time which was a very rare ocurrence though it was well-deserved.

ARFC responded by bringing on ARFC scoring legend and quick-silver Derrick at right-mid. Just minutes later, both subs contributed to the 3rd goal. Quick-silver passed the ball to Haron who took a touch before letting fly a shot which screamed goal all the way. True enough, the ball flew right across the keeper into the top left-hand corner which prompted a "Mexican waves" around the stadia.

7 minutes, Serangoon Uncle FC equalised when their left-back took a shot that beat Jinzhong all the way. 3-3.

The experienced ARFC warriors then patiently carved out chances. In the 67th min, Sebastiano chipped the ball to sublime Khim who in turn touched on for Haron to side-foot home. 4-3. Wonderful technique!!!

7 mins later, WO Neo harassed the defender so much that the latter lost the ball to powerful Alvin who made up for his earlier misses by bringing the ball in and beating the keeper easily. 5-3.

In the post-match interview with Skysports, powerful Alvin apologised for his misses and vowed to do better in the next match.

4 ARFC warriors in secret training sponsored by SAF

An anonymous source has spotted a few Apex Rangers players training secretly in the lush compounds of the state of the art Khatib camp. BBC Panaroma has revealed that the players in question are the fearsome sweeper Elvis, the entrepreneur Guoxiong, the sublime Khim and the not so speedy Boon.BBC can also reveal that they are actually being recalled for RT sessions (unlike the polis) and this will explain why ARFC have suffered 2 defeats in a row. It is being urged that the 'fit' players take a cue from these shameful players and buck up on their fitness. On a brighter note, they have promised to return with a vengence in the next game as they were being chased down Sembawang road by the BBC crew. We await results of their IPPT test.

ARFC turns in 6-star performance

Dear ARFC warriors:

ARFC bounced back from its 2 successive losses with a comprehensive trouncing of Marauders by the scoreline of 6-1 in front of the ever-faithful 77,777 ARFC fans at ITE Stadia.

In view of the poor attendance, Sebastiano called up quick-silver Derrick Teh and Kelvin (Rendezvous FC’s keeper) to boost up its strength. ARFC also received a welcome boost with the return of astute-reading Elvis who missed last week’s game with last-minute work commitments. Also, Toh was released from his ICT after one of ARFC’s Board of Directors wrote an appeal letter to Teo Chee Hean, the Defence Minister, for his release.

However, as Kelvin was late for the game, hard-working Tong volunteered as GK. Elvis and Towering Toh guarded the centre, with determined Huiming and the ever-improving Bernard flanking it. In the middle, Kiat Gulam and Sebastiano have the sublime Khim and quick0silver Derrick at their sides. Up front, ARFC scoring legend partnered the powerful Alvin. WO Neo and the still-injured and unpredictable Blackburn were the subs. Kelvin later arrived for the game. Again, would like to place on record ARFC’s appreciation for Blackburn’s attendance despite his injury.

Roared on by the faithful fans, ARFC started the match with fire in their stomaches as Huiming had promised the fans of an improved showing after 2 successive losses. In the 7th min, Sebastiano released a quick ball down the left to Alvin who beat their right-back before squaring the ball across for Kiat Gulam to tap in the first goal. The opponents protested that the ball had earlier crossed the line but their protests were waved away by the referee. 1-0.

In the 17th min, ARFC doubled its lead after yet another long ball to the right to quick-silver Derrick. Beating a player, Derrick sent the ball across the penalty area and under pressure from our strikers, their defender clumsily put the ball into its own net. 2-0. By now, the fans smelled a victory and began chanting “Win, Win, win” for 7 minutes.

ARFC’s 3rd goal came soon after. The sublime-Khim engineered a superb ball down the left flank to the over-lapping Bernard who swept a beautiful ball to Haron. Haron’s initial shot was parried by their keeper but he kept his composure to easily lob the ball for ARFC’s 3rd goal.

Minutes into the second half, ARFC won a free-kick on the left. Up stepped the unpredictable Blackburn to deliver a ball aimed at Towering Toh. Their keeper misjudged the ball and Toh scored this time not with his head but with his thigh. 4-0!!! The fans started chanting “Blackburn!Blackburn!Blackburn!” and an ITE wave was started and lasted for about 7 minutes.

The opponents pulled a goal back after Kelvin hesitated in a through ball. 4-1!!

ARFC, however, continued its good play. In the 57th min, the hard-working Tong won a challenge in the middle of the park and dinged a through ball to powerful Alvin. Alvin did not disappoint the fans and he scored ARFC’s fifth goal with a cool finish.

The icing on the cake came in the 67th min. Sebastiano beat 2 players on the right flank and sent in a high ball to the left to Kiat Gulam. Kiat Gulam paid the ball back to Derrick who coolly side-footed the ball home for ARFC’s 6th goal.

Minutes before the end, WO Neo nearly scored the goal of the game with his 37-metres thunderbolt that cannoned off the cross-bar.

When the referee blew the final whistle, the fanatical fans rushed into the pitch and began hugging every players. Clearly, they were extremely satisfied with ARFC’s performance, especially that of the defence (which had an impeccable game) and Derrick, who was clearly the Man-of-the-Match.

ARFC’s victory, however, came with a price as ARFC Scoring Legend, Haron, limped off with a strained hamstring. The extent of his injury would be made known after the medical examination by Dr Ng Eng Hen.

Headliner of the Week

Dear ARFC warriors:

Pl pick your choice.

Headliner 1: “ARFC slumps to second successive defeat”

Headliner 2: “ARFC scoring legend, Haron, notches up his 93rd goal for ARFC”

Headliner 3: “Sebastiano and Kiat Gulam too vocal for ARFC warriors’ liking”

ARFC suffers second defeat in Classiq League 06

Dear ARFC warriors:

ARFC slumped to its successive defeat in the Classiq League 2006 after going down to a narrow 2-1 loss against Yaakeen in front of the faithful 77,777 fans at ITE Stadia.

Prior to the match, ARFC received a blow when Elvis, the astute-reading Sweeper, pulled out due to last-minute work commitment. In step Kiat Gulam to take over his place, with Towering Toh, Bernard and Huiming covering him. In the midfield, Sebastiano and hard-working Tong guard the centre, with the sublime Khim and powerful Alvin taking up the flanks. Up front, Speedy Hee partnered ARFC scoring legend Haron. ARFC was also delighted to see unpredictable Blackburn turning up even though he was badly injured during last week’s game. In goal, Chow (guest player) helped ARFC out.

ARFC was immediately put under tremendous pressure by the very determined Yaakeen. They took shots after shots but ARFC held firm. In the 27th min, off a quickly-taken free-kick by Sebastino that released Khim in the area, Khim took a shot that unfortunately ricocheted off the post and bounced away to safety. Unlucky ARFC!!

In all fairness, ARFC was also lucky not to trail by the first half after some wayward finishing by Yaakeen.

In the 2nd half, Blackburn replaced Speedy Hee. It was clear by now that Blackburn was not fully fit. However, in the 57th min, sublime Khim released Blackburn down the left flank and despite being unable to sprint, Blackburn still delivered an inch-perfect cross to ARFC scoring legend Haron and the latter did not disappoint by expertly headed the ball past their keeper. 1-0!! Chants of “Blackburn, Blackburn!!” echoed around the stadia.

The lead, however, lasted only a few minutes. Off an innocuous ball pump into ARFC’s defence, Chow fumbled the ball and the opponent quickly took the ball, side-stepped a defender and shot the ball towards goal. Though the shot was no power, Kiat Gulam came within 7 mm of kicking the ball out. 1-1!!

In the 77th min, things got worse for ARFC. Their left-winger received a ball and shot past Chow for a 2-1 lead.

ARFC did not give up the fight. Speedy Hee, who replaced Blackburn who was unable to carry on anymore, raced on to a through ball from Khim but his shot was parried by their keeper for a corner.

Minutes later, some clever inter-play between Khim and Haron resulted in Khim taking the ball right up into the penalty box. Before he could a shot, their defender managed to slide the ball out of play and in the process brought Khim down. The referee, who was having a poor game, waved away the vehemous protest from the ARFC warriors.

When the final whistle went, ARFC warriors were disappointed not to at least snatch a point in this game. The fans appreciated ARFC’s efforts and applauded the team off the field.

Would also like to place on record for Blackburn’s attendance for today’s game, even though he was unable to run much. Excellent attitude!!!
