With such a strong bench, ARFC’s starting 11 knew that they had to work extremely hard as they would not be worried about the level of substitutes replacing them since they would be of similar standard.  With this mindset, ARFC warriors closed down the opponents at every opportunity and launched attacks after attacks.
After relentless pressure, ARFC’s efforts finally paid off in the 35th min.  How Meng’s Rory Delap-like throw-in saw the opponents handled the ball.  Chun Haw stepped up and placed the ball to the bottom left corner wit much precision and power.  1-0 and this was Chun Haw’s 77th ARFC goal.

In the 2nd half, ARFC did not ease up and in fact, stepped up the pressure by a few notches.

7 mins after the re-start, Javier showed quick thinking and intercepted a poor back pass from their defender, rounded their GK before slotting into the empty net. 2-0 and this was Javier’s 6th ARFC goal.

10 mins later, ARFC put the result beyond reasonable doubt with the goal of the match.  Chun Haw put in a great through ball down the left for Kenny to run in from deep.  From almost the left touchline, Kenny’s cross was so exquisite and accurate that How Meng connected perfectly with a powerful header ala Juergen Klinsmann.  3-0 and this was How Meng’s 13th ARFC goal.

How Meng’s last goal was back on 03 Jun 2018 when he netted a last-gasp winning goal, also a powerful header, in a 4-3 victory at Anderson SS.

Hee then turned on his magic within 17 mins.

First, Hee was the beneficiary of a great run from Guoxiong down the right flank ala Andrei Kanchelskis.  Guoxiong squared the ball across and Hee prodded the ball home for his 110th ARFC goal. 4-0

Kenny then mirrored Guoxiong at the other flank when his cross from the left was met by Hee who turned the ball in.  5-0 and this was Hee’s 111th ARFC goal.

The opponents then pulled a goal back. 5-1.

Hee then completed his hat-trick after yet another fantastic work from Guoxiong whose cross was clumsily handled by their defender.  With a chance for hat-trick, all other regular ARFC penalty-takers demonstrated wonderful teamwork by stepping aside and allowed Hee to take the spot-kick (thankfully Blackburn was no longer playing as he would have sprinted up, grabbed the ball, pushed away all and sundry and took the kick.)

Hee did not disappoint as he dispatched the spot-kick with much ease for his 112th ARFC goal and hat-trick.

This was Hee’s 6th-ever hat-trick for ARF which netted 20 goals. Hee’s last hat-trick was on 19 Oct 2014 in a 4-0 win.

Voting results:

Soon – 14
Kenny – 13
Hee – 8
Guoxiong – 5
Rashid – 5
