Pre-NS enlistee Weilit captained ARFC's 3-1 triumph

In his last ARFC match before his NS enlistment 2 days later, Weilit put up arguably his best performance in an ARFC shirt to captain ARFC to a 3-1 victory over Wolfpack FC.

ARFC was supported by Lingzhi, Ron’s beautiful and gorgeous wife.

ARFC started with this line-up:

Sweeper - Astute-reading sweeper Elvis
Stopper - Towering Toh
Left-back - Unpredictable Blackburn
Left mid – Speedy Hee
Right mid – Skilful Weilit (captain)
Centre-mid - Hard-man Tjioe
Centre-mid – Talented Chun Haw
Striker – Nippy Kenny
Striker – Powerful Alvin

Subs:

Combative Ron
Influential Sebastian
Gary (guest player)
Jerry (guest player)

Absent:

Dependable Jinzhong

ARFC Scoring Legend Haron

ARFC signaled its intent with an all-out attacking epitomised by Chun Haw’s and Tjioe’s repeated forays near their penalty area.

Kenny shocked the opponents with just 177 seconds gone. Picking up a loose ball from 47 metres out, Kenny swiveled sharply and crashed in a beautiful and powerful left-foot bender that caught their GK by surprise. Before anyone knew it, the ball already hit the net. 1-0 and this was Kenny’s 54th ARFC goal.

After a few more chances from Alvin and Kenny, ARFC conceded a highly controversial goal as 3 of the opponents were clearly offside when they scored. 1-1

ARFC then wasted a golden opportunity to restore its lead 7 mins later. After a series of twists and turns, Weilit was clumsily tripped by their defender. In a typical selfish move, Blackburn did not even want to fulfill Weilit’s wish for a potential goal before NS or help Sebastian to reach his ARFC centurion goal faster by dashing all the way from his right back position to take the penalty.

The end result? He placed the ball against the post and bounced out.

Surprisingly, not a single ARFC warrior screamed at his wastefulness and selfishness. Credit to all ARFC warriors.

Alvin was then put clean through after a dummy from Kenny. Staring down at their GK, their recovering defender made a stunning last-min sliding block before Alvin could pull the trigger.

From the corner taken by Sebastian, Toh headed slightly wide.

ARFC was not to be denied soon. Under the watchful eyes of Lingzhi, Ron chipped in an audacious lob ball for Kenny to break the off-side and faced their GK one-on-one. In such a situation, there is usually one outcome – goal from Kenny. 2-1 and this was Kenny’s 55th ARFC goal.

Kenny could have gotten his 3rd-ever hat-trick if not for yet another lousy call from the lousy referee. Alvin’s ball from the left area saw Kenny running in with a perfect run from deep. After lifting the ball over their GK, the referee ruled that Kenny was offside! Totally blind.

In the 2nd half, ARFC kept up its relentless pressure. First, Toh was adjudged to have unlawfully climbed above their defender after scoring from a header from Sebastian’s corner.

Then, Alvin chipped into row ZZ after Chun Haw put him through.

Kenny follow suit when he fired wide after a pass from Tjioe.

Hee then suffered the same fate after he lofted the ball wide after a perfect high ball from Sebastian.

ARFC finally put the result to bed in the 67th min. Toh once again connected sweetly with Sebastian’s corner but the ball was blocked and half-cleared. Weilit picked up the loose ball just slightly outside the box, twisted his body and screwed in a low shot that eluded the seas of players in the box to hit the net. Wonderful goal!!  3-1 and this was Weilit’s 12th ARFC goal.

ARFC conjured more chances but were unable to add to the scoreline.

Voting results:

Kenny – 6
Tjioe – 6
Elvis – 6
Weilit – 6
Chun Haw – 4
Ron – 3
Toh – 3
Ismail – 1
Guoxiong – 1
