Derrick grabbed 5 goals in 7-0 win

In the most one-sided match since our 14-0 whipping on FC Corpus Christi on 18 Jan 2009, ARFC demolished our opponents 7-0 though the score-line could have easily reached 20 goals.

The only justification is that our opponents played the 1st half with 9 players and the 2nd half with 10 players. But even with 11 players, they would also be thrashed.

ARFC started with this line-up:

Keeper - Dependable Jinzhong
Right-back - Earl
Sweeper - Astute-reading sweeper Elvis
Stopper - Weng Tuck (guest player)
Left-back - Unbeatable Darren
Left-mid - Speedy Hee
Centre-mid - Dynamic Soon
Centre-mid - Influential Sebastian
Right-mid - Talisman Derrick
Striker - Powerful Alvin
Striker - Unpredictable Blackburn

Subs:

Steely Tze Ern (late)

Absent:

Marauding Guoxiong C
omposed Jackson
Combative Ron
Resolute Jasper
ARFC Scoring Legend Haron
Impeccable How Meng
Hard-man Tjioe
Talented Chun Haw
Skillful Weilit
Wonder Wayne
Towering Toh
Regal Roy
Nippy Kenny
Sublime Khim
Mean-machine Hock
Long-throw specialist Norman
Precocious En Dian

Within minutes, AFC already spurned 2 chances and continued to miss several chances.

ARFC finally opened the scoring in the 17th min. The ball was not cleared in their penalty area and Derrick’s shot took a cruel wicked deflection to completely wrong-foot their keeper. 1-0 and this was Derrick’s 61st ARFC goal.

77 seconds later, ARFC doubled its lead. Blackburn’s corner from the left sailed high over to the right and Earl cleverly headed the ball back into the 6-yard area. Derrick was there at the right spot and he simply nodded the ball home for his 62nd ARFC goal. 2-0

ARFC then continued to miss chances.

At this juncture, ARFC wanted to offer Weng Tuck to them to provide more competitiveness but strangely enough, they rejected!

Derrick completed his hat-trick after Hee robbed their player in ARFC’s half and sped away. Hee fed Alvin who in turn laid the ball out for the lurking Derrick on the right. Without hesitation, Derrick rifled the ball high into the net, giving their keeper no chance at all. 3-0 and this was Derrick’s 63rd ARFC goal and his 3rd-eevr hat-trick for ARFC.

After the end of the 1st half, the opponents finally asked for a player and Weng Tuck was offered.

Things did not change, however, and Derrick grabbed his 4th goal in the match. Again, Alvin, Hee and Blackburn combined to free Derrick whose mis-hit weak shot was somehow spilled by their keeper and trickled into the net. 4-0 and this was Derrick’s 64th ARFC goal, putting him on level terms with Toh.

ARFC still continued to miss chances.

Blackburn’s corner from the left was brilliantly met by Hee at the far post who connected with a header from a mere 0.77 mm from the goal-line. This headed goal was almost similar to Miroslav Klose’s headed goal against Saudi Arabia in Germany’s 8-0 win at the 2002 World Cup. 5-0 and this was Hee’s 89th ARFC goal.

Derrick then notched his 5th goal in the match when he slalomed his was past so many defenders before firing home his 65th ARFC goal. 6-0 and with this goal, Derrick overtook Toh to stay at 7th position in the ARFC’s Leading Scorers’ List.

This was also Derrick's 3rd hat-trick for ARFC and incredibly, he had scored 14 goals in these 3 hat-tricks.

ARFC still missed several chances.

ARFC rounded off the score with 77 seconds remaining. Blackburn did very well to dribble down the right touch-line before pulling the ball back for the grateful Alvin to place the ball home for his 199th ARFC goal. 7-0.

Man-of-the-Match is jointly given to Soon and Hee.
