Chun Haw's 4-goal show in 6-2 victory

Led by Chun Haw’s 4-goal salvo, ARFC easily brushed aside E’Valor 6-2 under very hot and humid weather.  The victory was also ARFC’s 20^th out of 23 matches in 2019.

ARFC was supported by Dylan and Tiara (Elvis’ kids), Clara (Guoxiong’s princess, Reyes (Darren’s prince), Lingzhi and Rio (Ron’s family) and Nicole (Kerwin’s beau).

Eager to shrug off last week’s lethargic start, ARFC made a bright opening and took the lead with its first attack of the match. 

Guoxiong passed the ball to Alvin inside the box. Alvin tried to turn inside the defender and was clumsily upended.

Chun Haw stepped down to take the penalty and duly sent their GK the wrong way for his 86^th ARFC goal. 1-0

3 mins later, ARFC doubled its lead.  Again, the ball started from the right where Guoxiong and Kerwin exchanged passes before the ball reached Alvin. Alvin then laid the ball to Derrick who held up the ball well before spunning around to find Chun Haw lurking at the left side.  With their GK to beat, Chun Haw rifled in a firm left-foot shot ala Mohd Salah or his 87^th ARFC goal.  2-0

7 mins later, Sebastian’s corner from the right fouled the opponents when he found Khim who was standing at the top of the penalty box.  Alas, Khim skied the ball.

The opponents then pulled a goal back. 2-1

Immediately after the water-break, Fremont kept ARFC in the match when he produced a superb flying save to deny their venomous shot from distance.

Alvin then received a ball from midfield before turning and dribbling past their defence ala Luis Suarez.  Faced with only their GK, Alvin drilled home a low shot for his 324^th ARFC goal. 3-1.

Fremont then showed strong hands when he blocked a powerful shot.

Weilit then wriggled his way down the left byeline before finding Khim who had came in from deep to the area between the penalty box and penalty spot.  Uncharacteristically, Khim side-footed the ball to row Z! 

In the 38^th min, ARFC extended its lead after Darren’s missile-like throw-in from the left was flicked on by Chun Haw to the goalmouth area.  Haron demonstrated his predatory instinct when he read the ball well to slide home ala Ian Rush. 4-1 and this was Haron’s 271^st ARFC goal.

In the 2^nd half, ARFC took the lead 7 mins after the re-start. Again, Darren’s throw in down the left byeline saw Derrick lobbing the ball back to the penalty box area.  The ball took a bounce and Chun Haw capitalised on the defender’s hesitance to volley the ball into the net.  5-1 and this was Chun Haw’s 88^th ARFC goal. 

However, Chun Haw left the pitch immediately as he seemed to pull his muscle.

With this goal, Chun Haw has now scored his 8^th ARFC hat-trick.

The opponents then pulled another goal back. 5-2

Kerwin then struck the right post from his thunderous shot from the right.

Toh then ventured forward to hit a 40-metre long–range shot that flew just wide of the post.

In the 75^th min, Chun Haw scored his 4^th goal in the match.  A long ball from Khim to the left flank saw Derrick challenging their GK for the high ball outside the box.  Their GK won the duel by punching the ball away.  However, the ball was picked up by Chun Haw and with their GK back-pedalling frantically, Chun Haw took aim to place the ball into the unguarded net from 45 metres. 6-2 and this was Chun Haw’s 89^th ARFC goal.

Chun Haw’s last hat-trick for ARFC was way back on 25 Mar 2018 in a 3-0 win.
