Powered by yet another inspirational
performance from Chun Haw, ARFC continued its winning ways in the league after
brushing aside Generation Y 5-2.
As usual, ARFC was supported by its die-hard
and hardcore supporter Lingzhi, Ron’s wife.
ARFC started with this

ARFC’s
relentless pressing of opponents reaped dividends in the 7th
min. From outside the box, Chun
Haw’s beautifully struck free-kick was headed for the top corner but their GK
stuck out his arms to palm the ball away for a corner.
From the
resultant corner, a series of passes saw the ball falling to Blackburn. Living up to his unpredictable nature
of play, Blackburn killed the ball with a brilliant first touch before
unleashing a powerful cross-shot that caught everyone by surprise. Their GK
could only watch in horror as the ball almost burst the net after it landed at
the top corner. 1-0 and this was
Blackburn’s 153rd ARFC goals.
ARFC
extended its lead 2 mins later.
Still yet to recover from Blackburn’s wonder goal, the opponents was hit
by a superb counter-attack move from ARFC. Wayne got the ball from the centre line and passed to his
right where Blackburn was lurking.
Blackburn sprayed a ball to Chun Haw on the left wing. Looking up and spotting Wayne making a
run into the box, Chun Haw nonchalantly hit the ball to Wayne with a pin-point
pass. With just their GK to beat,
Wayne made up for his poor finishing the previous week when he slotted the ball
home nicely to the far corner. 2-0
and this was Wayne’s 27th ARFC goal.
ARFC then
nearly conceded a goal after a comical mix-up between Derrick and Darren. The ball richocheted off Darren’s knee
and wrong-footed Derrick who ha charged out. The ball was headed towards goal and the opponents had
shouted for ‘goal’ when Derrick made a leopard-like recovery to boot the ball
away to safety. Thankfully, the
goalline technology was not used for this as the ball seemed to have already
crossed the line.
ARFC then
scored its 3rd goal of the match. Off yet another beautiful move between Blackburn, Wayne and
Chun Haw, Chun Haw found himself galloping into the box and easily dispatched
the ball past their GK for his 59th ARFC goal. 3-0
Chun Haw
then put the result to bed with another peach of a goal. From outside the box, he bent a
world-class curler for his 60th ARFC goal. 4-0
The
opponents then pulled a goal back. Though Derrick saved their first penalty,
the referee ordered a re-take which they converted. 4-1
In the 2nd
half, Chun Haw quickly restored ARFC’s 4-goal margin when he turned creator
this time. From the left, Chun Haw
floated a delicious ball into the box where How Meng and Larry were
lurking. Showing how much he has
improved from his stint with a S-League club, How Meng trapped the ball with his
thighs before moving in menacingly towards goal and slammed the ball past their
GK. 5-1 and this was How Meng’s 11th
ARFC goal, putting him on level terms with ex-ARFC legends Damian and Hwee, as
well as with Ron on 11 goals.
The
opponents then pulled a consolation goal near the end. 5-2.
