Blackburn turned from villain to hero with his 150th ARFC goal in 2-2 draw

In its 3rd league match, ARFC staged a late great fight-back to draw 2-2 against Asteroids to preserve its unbeaten record in the tournament.

ARFC’s remarkable recovery was witnessed by ARFC staunch supporter, Lingzhi, as well as Sebastian, Caren and Kaizaree Jade-Eden Tan.

Hee was supposed to be early but he was let down by Chun Haw who was late at the picking-up point.

ARFC started with only 10 warriors:

Playing with just 10 warriors, it was no strange to see ARFC being on the back-foot.

Things soon changed when ARFC eventually fielded 11 warriors.

Chun Haw looked to have make amends for his lateness when he embarked on a Messi-like dribble to beat a few opponents before being upended by their defender.  With regular penalty-takers Sebastian and Haron missing from the line-up, Blackburn stood up but only managed to thump his spot-kick against the post! Unlucky!

ARFC was then made to pay when it conceded a goal. 0-1

Just as Sebastian, Caren and Kaizaree Jade-Eden had arrived at the pitch, ARFC succumbed to a counter-attack. 0-2

ARFC looked dead and buried but Kenny, who had such an inspired outing, brilliantly wriggled his way down the left touch-line before squaring the ball across goal.  Chun Haw arrived at the far side to steer the ball into the net for his 38th ARFC goal. 1-2

ARFC then equalised after Soon won a ball at the left and swung the ball to the far post. The ball eluded everyone and Blackburn popped up to atone for his penalty miss by placing the ball into the net. 2-2 and this was Blackburn’s 150th ARFC goal.

With the clock ticking down, ARFC could have even won the match. Chun Haw produced a last burst of speed and skill to beat their left-back and his low diagonal cut-back saw Soon rushing in from deep with no opponents around and their GK clearly beaten. Just as every ARFC players and supporters are expecting a goal, Soon blazed his shot high to row ZZZ.

Just wish to pay special credit to ARFC’s defence for standing tall and denied opponents though they were outnumbered on a few occasions.

Voting results:

Soon – 11
Chun Haw – 8
Kenny – 8
Tjioe – 6
Ron – 4
Huiming – 1
