ARFC in complete control in 3-0 victory

Playing on Sebastian’s 6th wedding anniversary (07 Jul), ARFC delivered a perfect present to him by easily brushing aside a Malay team 3-0.

Witnessing the comprehensive victory is Melissa, Hee’s muse.

ARFC started with this line-up:

Keeper - Impeccable How Meng
Right-back - Resolute Jasper
Sweeper - Astute-reading sweeper Elvis
Stopper - Towering Toh
Left-back - Unbeatable Darren
Left-mid - Skillful Weilit
Centre-mid - Dynamic Soon
Centre-mid - Influential Sebastian
Right-mid - Unpredictable Blackburn
Striker - Speedy Hee (captain)
Striker - Powerful Alvin

Subs:

Dependable Jinzhong
Wonder Wayne
Steely Tze Ern
Combative Ron (late)

Absent:

Talisman Derrick
ARFC Scoring Legend Haron
Talented Chun Haw
Marauding Guoxiong
Nippy Kenny
Composed Jackson
Booming Boon
Hard-man Tjioe
Sublime Khim

ARFC could not settled down on the hard pitch within the first 7 mins and the opponents were quick to launch several attacks down their left. However, Jasper, ably supported by Toh, Elvis, Soon and Sebastian, stood tall to their speedy left winger.

ARFC took the lead in the 17th min. Of from yet another scud missile throw-in from Darren, Alvin trapped the ball expertly before turning to fire home a diagonal low shot ala Fernando Torres (Liverpool version). 1-0 and this was his 202nd ARFC goal.

ARFC then totally dominated the half and created many chances but all were spurned.

In the 2nd half, ARFC doubled its lead with almost a carbon copy goal from the first. Darren’s torpedo-like throw in caused chaotic scenes in the 6-yard box and after their keeper fumbled with his catch, Alvin simply turned the ball into the net for his 203rd AFC goal. 2-0

Toh then came close with so many headers from corners.

ARFC continued to squander away chances created.

In the 77th min, Ron put the icing on the cake. Wayne wheeled away down the left flank and swung in a perfect cross to the far post. Ron burst in from deep and produced a BPL-like goal when he slided in and volleyed the ball into the net ala   Didier Drogba. 3-0 and this was Ron’s 8th ARFC goal, putting him level with Wayne.

In all honesty, ARFC could have won by a much bigger margin as it as totally a one-sided match. Indeed, How Meng only touched the ball less than 7 times in the entire match.

After the match, in a new voting system implemented, Darren was awarded the Man-of-the-Match while Soon came in second. They will be given $10 and $5 respectively.

This is the voting result derived from all 15 warriors present:

1.     Darren – 33 pts;
2.     Soon – 19 pts;
3.     Ron – 14 pts;
4.     Toh – 10 pts;
5.     Weilit – 7 pts;
6.     Wayne – 5 pts;
7.     Hee – 2 pts.
