ARFC was determined to correct the wrong (1-1 draw in the previous match against the same opponent) and Tjioe was particularly menacing.

ARFC opened the scoring in the 17th min.  Alvin’s corner was hit way too high and reached no ARFC warrior.  However, Ron did not give up and chased the ball till the byline. With a sharp turn ala Dennis Bergkamp, Ron floated the ball back in and Chun Haw connected with a vicious looping header to beat their keeper for his 20th ARFC goal. 1-0

7 mins later, Haron replaced Hee.

In the 27th min, ARFC nearly doubled the scoring. Alvin was put away down the left flank by Tjioe. With a powerful first touch, Alvin pushed the ball beyond their covering defender. Looking up, Alvin heard Haron’s call and he duly obliged with a low outside right footer ball. The onrushing Haron looked to have added to his 188 ARFC goals but his shot inexplicably smacked against the post with the goal gaping! Unlucky but what a great awareness by Haron!

Soon then replaced Weilit who suffered a hand injury.

In the 2nd half, Sebastian came on for Ron with Tjioe dropping to stopper.

Sebastian made an immediate impact when he chipped in a free-kick from the middle to the right flank. Jasper produced a stunning over-lapping run down the right flank, looked up and sent in a delicious ball into the box. Haron and their keeper and defender challenged for the ball but Haron won the duel when he flicked the ball over them. With the ball rolling nicely about 0.77 mm from the goal-line, Soon made sure of the goal by simply tapping into the unguarded net for his 47th ARFC goal. 2-0

Sebastian then executed a curling free-kick from the left which was not met by any warrior but it bounced off the post. Unlucky for ARFC again.

Haron then released Alvin with a clever pass and Alvin surged clear only to see his low right-footed shot cannoned off the post. Yet another unlucky ARFC miss!

Man-of-the-Match must be given to both Tjioe and Wayne.

Special mention to Jasper who put in several over-lapping runs from his right-back position. Wonderful improving player.

Haron netted a brace to inspire 5-1 win over Anfield Warriors FC

Playing a Saturday afternoon match for the first time since ages ago, ARFC put up a strong display to dismiss the challenge of the ‘Anfield Warriors FC’ (Liverpool Supporters team) 5-1 with Haron back to his groove.

This was also the first time that ARFC is playing in a 3-halves match of 30 mins each.

Due to its illustrious opponents ARFC, ‘Anfield Warriors’ invited past Liverpool greats to witness the match. The greats are Bruce Grobblearr, Steve Nicol, Mark Lawrenson, Alan Kennedy, Jim Beglin, Phil Neal, Alan Hansen, Jan Molby, Steve McMahon, Graeme Souness, Craig Johnston, John Barnes, Peter Beardsley, Ian Rush, John Aldridge, Ray Houghton, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Kenny Dalglish, Alonso, Luis Garcia, Javier Mascherano, Patrick Berger, Sami Hyypia, Jerzy Dudek, Stephen Henchoz and many lesser names (too many to mention).

ARFC started with this line-up:

Keeper             -           Impeccable How Meng
Right-back       -           Dependable Jinzhong
Sweeper           -           Astute-reading sweeper Elvis
Stopper            -           Unbeatable Darren (captain)

ARFC opened the scoring in the 7th min. From Darren’s searching ball down the left channel ala Bjornebye, Alvin turned and chipped to Chun Haw. Without missing a beat, Chun Haw headed the ball back to Alvin who cracked in a crisp volley in the air ala Fernando Torres (the Liverpool version, not the Chelski version) that almost burst the net. 1-0 and this was Alvin’s 196th ARFC goal.

With this goal, Alvin has now scored in his 4th successive match.

The 1st tri-half ended 1-0 as chances were at a premium.

7 mins after the start of the 2nd tri-half, ARFC conceded after it failed to clear a corner. 1-1

ARFC regained its lead just 7 mins later.  Derrick performed a Steve McManaman when he weaved and wriggled his way into the box and was chopped down by their defender. Haron stepped up to plant the penalty firmly into the bottom right corner ala Robbie Fowler for his 187th ARFC goal. 2-1

7 mins later, ARFC extended its lead. Alvin muscled his way and won the ball on the right and quickly played in Chun Haw ala Steven Gerrard. Chun Haw faced their keeper one-on-one and he won the dual by placing the ball past him ala Michael Owen. 3-1 and this was Chun Haw’s 19th ARFC goal, putting him on level terms with ex-warrior Jesmond.

17th mins later, Alvin again robbed their player of possession and powered down the left flank. His cross was cleared by their defender but was blocked by Hee ala Mascherano. The ball fell kindly to the lurking Haron who needed no second invitation to hit home his 188th ARFC goal ala Robbie Fowler. 4-1

In the 3rd tri-half, Toh finally arrived to lend strength. ARFC continued to create chances and both Haron and Chun Haw were put through on goal on a couple of occasions but could not hit the target.

Just mins from the end, ARFC won a free-kick. As the opponents were busy forming the wall, Blackburn took full advantage and caught them by surprise by simply firing a quick free-kick into the net for his 126th ARFC goal. 5-1

Man-of-the-Match is jointly given to both Roy and Jackson.

After the match, both teams gathered for a hand-shake as Liverpool fans, like Liverpool players, are always sporting losers. A group photo was taken and all sang Liverpool songs together.

This gesture moved long-time Man Yoo supporters Guoxiong, Derrick, Hee and Jasper so much that they vowed to become Liverpool supporters henceforth.  In fact, all 4 of them even commented that they were ashamed to be Man Yoo supporters for so long as Man Yoo is always a sore loser.

Even Tjioe, another long-term Man Yoo supporter and who was watching the match via live streaming while receiving BBBJ from a “lady-boy” in a dinghy hotel room in Bangkok, was moved to tears after witnessing the post-match gesture. Tjioe also realized his mistake in supporting Man Yoo and after ejaculating, chanted “I will be a die-hard Liverpool supporter from now on……”

Before ARFC left, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen and Kenny Dalglish commented that Alvin, Haron and Chun Haw are almost as good as they were in their prime, and invited them to join them for the Masters Futsal tournament in 2014.

ARFC brushed aside the super-duper hot weather to start the match strongly with Alvin, Kenny and Hee at the forefront of things.

Just 7 mins gone, ARFC took the lead. Soon played a delicious ball down the right flank for Hee to, well, speed clear. Hee drew their keeper out before squaring the ball for the on-rushing Alvin to simply tap the ball home for his 194th ARFC goal. 1-0.

Hee was then the “first victim” of the weather when he signaled to be substituted, with Tze Ern taking his place. Moments later, Sebastian, Derrick and Ron took over from Kenny, Alvin and Soon. Derrick and Blackburn then formed the front-two.

ARFC conjured so many chances but failed to take them with Derrick’s miss taking the cake. Playing under the watchful eyes of his wife and 4 (!!) children, captain-of-the-day Darren bombed down the left flank before sending in a inch-perfect cross ala David Beckham in the 6-yard box line. However, Derrick’s stooping header went high over the bar when unmarked.

ARFC was then made to pay for its prolificacy when their first shot on target resulted in a goal! 1-1

To ARFC’s credit, all warriors did not panic and most importantly, did not engage in any finger-pointing at all.

In the 2nd half, Hee was put clean through down the left flank twice in quick succession by Sebastian but he failed to capitalize. Unlucky!

Alvin then restore ARFC’s lead when he surged down the right flank. Hee then distracted their keeper by shouting for the ball from the left. Alvin’s cross-shot then somehow sailed over their keeper at the far post with their keeper still keeping an eye on Hee’s run from behind. 2-1 and this was Alvin’s 195th ARFC goal.

Mins later, Soon’s incessant pressurizing paid dividends when he robbed the opponent and laid the ball to Alvin. Instinctively, Alvin played Kenny, who just came on for Wayne only, in and the latter duly slotted the ball home for his 14th ARFC goal. 3-1

ARFC scored almost immediately. Sebastian played a précise ground ball to Alvin who then executed a through ball for Kenny to run from deep and placed the ball low into the net for his 15th ARFC goal. 4-1

Kenny’s 15th ARFC goal tied with Guoxiong at the 20th position at the ARFC’s all-time scorers’ list.

ARFC then conceded another goal.4-2.

Blackburn restored ARFC’s 3-goal lead when he robbed their defender and rifled home his 124th ARFC goal. 5-2.

ARFC continued pressing and Alvin chalked up yet another assist in this match when he passed to Kenny who easily scored to notch his fist-ever hat-trick for ARFC. 6-2 and this was Kenny’s 16th ARFC goal, moving him ahead of Guoxiong.

With his hat-trick, Kenny has now officially joined the elite list of ARFC’s hat-trick heroes.

ARFC could not stop and Blackburn brought a high ball now about 47.77 metres from their goal. Taking aim for close to 7 seconds, Blackburn crashed in a cannon-ball that hit the top right-hand corner of the goal, giving their despairing keeper no chance at ll. World-class goal and this was Blackburn’s 125th ARFC goal. 7-2

Kenny was not done yet. Derrick sped down the right flank and though he could easily take a shot and score, Derrick chose team over personal glory by squaring the ball across goal for Kenny to poke home his 17th ARFC goal. 8-2

This was a match where ARFC could easily at least reach double-figures. The good thing to note is that every warrior played very very well and played for each other.

Special mention to Hee who worked tirelessly both at helping out his left-back and also contributed so much to ARFC’s attack.

Of course, Man-of-the-Match must be given to Alvin for his world-class display today.
