Haron and Chun Haw in starring role in 4-2 win

Playing a day after Sebastian’s 43^rd birthday and Guns N Roses’ first-ever concert in Singapore, ARFC turned back the clock to YESTERDAY, rewarded its supporters’ PATIENCE and sent them to PARADISE CITY with a comprehensive and decisive 4-2 CIVIL WAR victory over Tebing FC.

After a sustained period of domination, ARFC finally made the breakthrough in the 27^th min. From his right-back position, Chua passed the ball to Guoxiong who spotted Haron’s incisive run and chipped the ball over their left-back.  The laser-sharp ball fell nicely to Haron who, without breaking his stride, swivellled and guided the ball to the far corner beyond the out-stretched legs of their GK.  1-0 and this was Haron’s 237^th ARFC goal.

In the 70^th min, the opponents equalized from a free-kick.

However, their joy was short-lived as ARFC regained its lead within 77 seconds. 

From the left-side, Darren launched his world-renowned monstrous long throw right into the 6-yard box. Despite being sandwiched by 2 big defenders, Toh still managed to flick the ball backwards. The lurking Haron was the biggest beneficiary as the ball was “thighed” home by Haron for his 238^th ARFC goal. 2-1.

In the 77^th min came the move of the match.  From its own half defending a corner, the ball fell to Blackburn who was standing at the top of the penalty box. He then managed to nutmeg the opponent and topped that up by dribbling past 2 opponents.  Hearing Alvin asking for the ball on the left, Blackburn duly sent him scapering away down the left from halfway line.  Alvin then demonstrated his trade-mark move yet again by powering down the left wing before squaring to the on-rushing Chun Haw who simply slammed the ball home for his 52^nd ARFC goal. 3-1.

177 seconds later, ARFC put the result to bed with another goal from counter-attack. Again defending a corner, Wayne found Haron with an exquisite pass and the latter took a touch before producing a slide-rule pass for Chun Haw to run in from deep.  Chun Haw showed great composure by dribbling past their GK before squeezing the ball into the empty net. 4-1 and this was Chun Haw’s 53^rd ARFC goal.

ARFC then turned complacent and conceded another goal. 4-2

Playing on a rare 9 pm match on a Friday, ARFC secured a hard-fought 5-2 victory over K11 at the Turf City.

ARFC was quickest off the block and earned 3 corners within 7 mins.

However, Toh narrowly sliced his header over for the first corner while the 2 corners were not met by ARFC warriors.

Strangely enough, ARFC fell behind after they capitalized on an error to score. 0-1

ARFC did not panic and credit to all warriors as no one pointed any finger at anyone. 

ARFC then drew level when a corner was hit superbly by Blackburn. The ball sailed just under the cross-bar and Toh made sure of the goal by heading it home. 1-1 and this was Toh’s 91^st ARFC goal.

A slew of changes then took place and Yilong immediately made his presence felt when his through pass saw Alvin galloping down the left side. Before their GK and defenders could react, Alvin simply shot home with his outside right foot for his 291^st ARFC goal. 2-1

Ron was then lucky not to be sent off when he brought their striker, who was clean through, down with a last-ditch but very late sliding tackle. The referee was lenient to just award a yellow card and Ron was immediately substituted as he hurt himself in the process.

Yilong then struck the cross-bar with a 37-metre left-foot shot.  Haron was also unlucky when his shot hit the post.

Yilong then produced a slide-rule pass to put Wayne clean through but the latter’s placed shot was saved by their GK.

In the 2^nd half, ARFC extended its lead when Yilong’s long-range powerful shot was spilled by their GK. 3-1 and this was Yilong’s 3^rd ARFC goal.

Toh then scored his 92^nd ARFC goal when Sebastian’s corner from the right was hit right into the most dangerous area (spot between 6-yard box and penalty spot) and Toh came charging in ala Sami Hyypia to thump home an unstoppable header. 4-1

ARFC then put the result to bed with the best team move that resulted in a goal. First, Sebastian spread the ball to the overlapping Darren whose cross sailed all the way to the opposite flank.  Meanwhile, Sebastian continued his run into the box.  Guoxiong picked up the ball and sent a precise cross to Alvin who as lurking in the box. Alvin took a great first touch and upon hearing Sebastian’s call for the ball, promptly laid the ball to him.  Sebastian then fooled their covering defender with a fake shot by dragging the ball in with his left foot and duly side-footed the ball home with his right foot. 5-1 and this was Sebastian’s 102^nd ARFC goal, putting him level with Derrick.

ARFC then conceded another goal. 5-2.

Darren, who replaced Derrick as GK, then struck out his left foot to deny a certain goal.
