Alvin's penalty miss proved costly in 1-1 draw

ARFC chalked up its 3^rd draw in as many matches when it drew 1-1 with Unicorn.

In the 15^th min, Soon and Darren exchanged passes and the latter then saw How Meng sprinting down the left.  With a delicate and deft chip ala Glenn Hoddle, Darren sent How Meng down the left flank.  How Meng took a great touch before squaring to Wayne who was near the 6-yard box area.  Naturally, Wayne did not disappoint as his expertly-taken left-foot shot flew past their stunned GK for his 37^th ARFC goal.

ARFC could have doubled its lead 15 mins from the break.  How Meng, who had obviously improved so much as a player while playing for Hougang United under Philippe Aw, executed a sizzling dribble that left their defenders tangled with their legs.  Facing their GK alone, How Meng tried to round him but was hacked down.  However, Alvin could only put the resulting penalty wide!

In the 2^nd half, the opponents then equalised. 1-1

Guoxiong hit ARFC's 2100th goal with long-range rocket in 3-3 draw

In a match where Guoxiong’s scored ARFC’s 2100^th goal in its illustrious history, ARFC let slip a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 with a young, lean and fit team called Chubby Alonsos.

ARFC was supported by Raymond who turned up but did not want to play.

In the 7^th min, Eng Lai played a long ball down the right which Kenny sprinted clear of their defence.  Hearing Hee’s call, Kenny pinged a delicious-looking ball to Hee’s feet.  With their GK to beat and with 2 defenders closing him down, Hee’s just missed the goal by 0.77 mm.

5 mins later, ARFC deservingly took the lead.  Eng Lai’s laser-sharp and sweet curler from a corner on the right saw Chun Haw rose better than Toh to thump a downward header to the left past their despairing GK.  1-0 and this was Chun Haw’s 73^rd ARFC goal.

However, the opponents then equalised about 10 mins later. 1-1 at half-time.

In the 2^nd half, Hee showed that he is back to his old self when he expertly stole the ball from the opponents and presented the ball on a platter for the on-rushing Guoxiong. After taking a superb first touch to kill the ball, Guoxiong unleashed a world-class unstoppable venom that hit the top corner, ala Paul Scholes, that left their GK rooted to his spot.  2-1 and this was Guoxiong’s 30^th ARFC goal.

Guoxiong’s goal was also ARFC’s 2100^th goal since it was formed in Jun 1991.

7 mins later, ARFC looked to have put the result to bed.  After winning a foul on the left about 37 metres away, Blackburn fooled everyone when his long and high diagonal free-kick sailed over everyone including their GK for his 159^th ARFC goal. 3-1

However, the fitter opponents then launched a fight-back to score 2 goals to make it 3-3.

With seconds to go, ARFC nearly snatched a winner but after a series of pin-ball action in and around their penalty box, ARFC just could not fire in a winner.
