ARFC in unlucky 2-3 loss to SJI Old Boys

Playing under sweltering weather, ARFC could not built on its early domination and lost 2-3 to the SJI Old Boys (younger team) at Catholic JC.

In the 7^th min, Chun Haw won a free-kick on the right. Picking himself up, Chun Haw sent a delicious-looking bal right into the danger area in the box.  Tjioe showed wonderful anticipation when he moved in front of their defender to slide the ball home for his 62^nd ARFC goal. 1-0

Unfortunatey, ARFC conceded 2 goals to trail 1-2 at half-time.

From the re-start, ARFC launched waves after waves of attack but could not find an equalising goal. 

ARFC was then caught out by their countr-attack and conceded anither goal. 1-3.

ARFC never gave up at all. In the 77^th min, ARFC won a free-kick on the left.  Chun Haw stood over the ball and curled a world-class bender ala Luis Suarez to pull a goal back. 2-3 and this was Chun Haw’s 47^th ARFC goal.

Despite more attacks, ARFC could not fashion an equaliser and lost 2-3.

Guoxiong propelled ARFC's 6-0 victory

Playing the return leg against Esteroids, ARFC put things right (the previous match ended in a 2-2 draw) by putting them to the sword with a 6-0 thumping win courtesy of an inspiring performance from Guoxiong. 

ARC was supported by Lingzhi, Ron’s beau, and Brendan Roberto.

Clearly motivated by the great attendance, ARFC’s starting-11 came charging out of the starting block as all knew that if they are tired, there would be very capable substitutes taking over from them.

It did not take long for ARFC to draw first blood.  In the 7^th min, a tantalising hanging right-wing cross from Guoxiong saw Alvin peeling away from his marker to make space for himself.  The ball landed nicely on Alvin’s forehead who simply nodded home his 281^st ARFC goal. 1-0

7 mins later, ARFC doubled its lead after some beautiful inter-change of passes at the left area. The ball fell invitingly for Kenny who was lurking outside the box. Without much hesitation, Kenny unleashed a speculative scorcher that flew past their stunned GK for his 70^th ARFC goal. 2-0

In the 27^th min, the Guoxiong-Alvin axis reaped dividends again. Spotting Alvin at the far side, Guoxiong sent in a high cross to the far post which saw Alvin floating in to head home his 282^nd ARFC goal. 3-0

All 7 substitutes then came on for some action.

From the re-start, Chun Haw was cautioned.

Chun Haw then quickly made amends after a quick flowing sweeping move from defence to attack saw the ball reached Chun Haw. With a clever touch, Chun Haw played in a slide-rule pass for Kenny who ghosted in and let rip a thunder-bolt to almost tear the net apart. 4-0 and this was Kenny’s 71^st ARFC goal.

The 7 substitutes then took their places.

ARFC then notched its 5^th goal in the match straight from a training ground routine.  Tze Ern’s corner from the right saw Toh charging in like a raging bull and met the ball emphatically with a diving header for his 88^th ARFC goal. 5-0

ARFC was not done. With 3 mins to go, Guoxiong’s mazy dribble into the box resulted in him being upended by 3 defenders concurrently! 

Surprisingly, Blackburn did not rush to take the penalty as usual and allow Kenny to try to get his hat-trick. Of course, Kenny did not disappoint as he simply slammed the ball past their GK for his 72^nd ARFC goal. 6-0.

With this goal, Kenny had now scored a total of 4 hat-tricks for ARFC and also moved to level terms with Soon on 72 ARFC goals.
