ARFC matched same scoreline in Liverpool's 6-3 win over Cardiff

Inspired by Liverpool’s demolishing 6-3 victory over Cardiff last night, ARFC also chalked up the same scoreline with a victory over Scorpions (not to be confused with multiple-awards winning and legendary rock band Scorpions).

ARFC took the lead after Chun Haw created an opening for Weilit to score his 7^th ARFC goal. 1-0 and Weilit is now on level terms with Tze Ern.

Just before the half-time whistle, Jinzhong underlined his case for Most Improved Player thus far when he teed Blackburn up for the latter’s 135^th ARFC goal. 2-0

Rushing down to the match after inking yet another multi-million dollar renovation deal, Derrick was clearly in jubilant mood and he soon assisted Blackburn’s 136^th ARFC goal. 3-0

The opponents then pulled a goal back. 3-1

Chun Haw then made up for his recent amazing misses at the same itch when he embarked on a 37.77-metre solo run to put ARFC 4-1 ahead. This was Chun Haw’s 29^th ARFC goal and first goal for ARFC in 2014.

The opponents then scored again. 4-2

The opponents then pulled nearer with another goal. 4-3 and looks like ARFC is in deep trouble.

Captain of the day Haron then made an inspired substitution by replacing veteran Blackburn with himself.

Within seconds, Haron laid the ball nicely on a platter for Kenny to belt in a scorcher for his 33^rd ARFC goal. 5-3

With seconds to go, Haron made sure of ARFC’s victory when Kenny returned the favour and Haron duly made it 6-3 for his 203^rd ARFC goal.

Sebastian scored 90th ARFC goal in bizarre loss

For the first time in 2014, a strange heavy downpour greeted ARFC prior to its 1 pm match at Springfield SS. In a strange concidence, ARFC also put up a strange display to lose 5-6 to FPU.

Credit to Soon for turning up to support despite nursing a sickness and after his 14-km run in the morning. A role model and example for all ARFC warriors to emulate.

The FPU also had 7 players and ARFC ended up loaning Derrick, Elvis and Jinzhong to them first.

ARFC conceded the first goal within 3 mins due to no mood. 0-1

ARFC quickly equalized after Tze Ern slipped Kenny through on goal with a well-timed through ball. Kenny duly obliged by chipping over their keeper for his 32^nd ARFC goal. 1-1

ARFC took the lead after Hee won a free kick near the left touch-line. Sebastian reminded all of his set-piece prowess by hitting in a curling ball over their keeper which saw the ball nestled nicely into the net. 2-1 and this was Sebastian’s 90^th ARFC goal.

The opponents then equalized. 2-2

ARFC regained its lead after Toh’s thunderous clearance reached their keeper. Alvin, however, did not give up and closed down on their keeper. Their keeper then fumbled the ball and Alvin nicked the ball away from him and slot the ball home for his 226^th ARFC goal.

Just 7 mins into the re-start, ARFC scored its 4^th goal of the match from a corner. Blackburn arrowed his rocket-like corner all the way to the most dangerous area (mid-point at the 6-yard box area) and Toh swooped in to score with his stooping header for his 72^nd ARFC goal. 4-2

ARFC then conceded another goal. 4-3

ARFC then grabbed its 5^th goal after Derrick’s quick throw-in on the right was picked up by Kenny who galloped down the right flank. Kenny whipped in a low cross to the far post and Alvin showed immaculate timing to side-foot the ball home for his 227^th ARFC goal. 5-3

ARFC then somehow conjured to concede 3 goals to lose 5-6!

Special mention must be accorded to How Meng who produced saves after saves from close-range. The most impressive moment came when he demonstrated quick reaction time by blocking 2 close-range shots in succession! Simply world-class!

Guoxiong hit 20-goal mark in 5-2 win

In a 1 pm match at Pasir Ris SS, ARFC overcame 777 degrees celcius temperature to beat The Maestros 5-1

Not surprisingly, no supporters turned up to watch ARFC due to the weather.

ARFC struggled in the opening exchanges but quickly settled down.

ARFC took the lead in the 7^th min after wonderful work by Haron and Hee. First, their keeper made a hasty clearance after a superb closing down by Haron. The cleared ball was picked up by Hee who immediately pierced right into their heart of defence with a penetrative run. Hee then squared the ball to the unmarked Alvin on the right. Alvin then showed immerse composure to dispatch the ball into the bottom right-corner of their keeper who simply had no chance at all. 1-0 and this was Alvin’s 225^th ARFC goal.

ARFC doubled its lead 7 mins later. Blackburn pinged a long ball down the left flank to Alvin who beat their right-back and crossed a low ball in. The ball looked to have reached Haron at the far post until Soon came from don’t know where to steer the ball home just right at the middle of the 6-yard box. 2-0 and this was Soon’s 56^th ARFC goal and also his 3 successive goal in as many matches.

ARFC then went to sleep and conceded a goal. 2-1

Due to the searing heat, Chun Haw, Sebastian and Tze Ern then came on for Ron, Soon and Haron respectively.

Within mins, Chun Haw combined with Alvin but like last week, Chun Haw hurried his shot and skied the ball.

Chun Haw, however, made amends, just 77 seconds later. His long diagonal high ball from the left ala Steven Gerrard saw their left-back miscued a back-pass to their keeper. In the meantime, Guoxiong continued his run and before their keeper could make a recovery save, Guoxiong just managed to nick the ball ahead by a mere 0.777 mm and scored his 20^th ARFC goal. 3-1

Weilit then came on for Hee who was really a menace to the opponents.

ARFC then won a corner taken by Blackburn on the left. His corner was hit with much force and high velocity and both Toh and Jinzhong charged in like 2 Russian tanks ala John Terry and Sami Hyypia.  Toh met the ball ahead of Jinzhong and scored with a world-class bullet header, knocking down everybody that was in his way. 4-1 and this was Toh’s 70^th ARFC goal, eclipsing previous ARFC scoring great Robin’s 69 goals.

In the 2^nd half, ARFC did not let up and continued creating chances. From a well-orchestrated move which Derrick and Chun Haw were alerted 77 seconds earlier due to an opponent’s substitution, Sebastian exchanged wall-pass with Chun Haw at the middle. Sebastian then chipped in a ball down the right flank for Derrick to run in from the blind-side. With their keeper out to close down Derrick, Derrick appeared to be in 2 minds and his tentative chip across goal was not met by any warriors. Unlucky!

Sebastian’s freekick from the left was arrowed right into the most dangerous zone in the centre of the 6-yard box. Toh did not connect cleanly and Haron just managed to scoop the ball 0.77 mm over the bar. Unlucky.

ARFC then scored the goal of the match. Intercepting a ball, Toh charged upfield and passed to Haron who was standing at the top of the penalty box. Toh continued his bull-run and Haron’s neat and sublime back-heel fooled their defence. Toh ran in from deep, faced their keeper alone and duly thrashed the ball into the net for his 71^st ARFC goal.

The referee then gifted an extremely soft penalty to the opponents after he adjudged Ron’s extremely clean tackle to be a foul. The tackle was so clean and precise that even their striker did not shout for a penalty. Justice was served, however, when Jinzhong saved their poorly-struck penalty. Superb Jinzhong.

Jasper notched debut ARFC goal in 10-0 rout

In a 5 pm friendly match against CBCV, ARFC shrugged aside last week’s disappointing defeat by putting 10 goals without reply past the hapless opponents which probably only managed less than 5 shots in the match.

ARFC was watched by Melissa and YY, beau of Hee and Jasper respectively, as well as Roberto, boyfriend of no girl as yet.

Credit to Alvin and Soon for coming despite their long-distance run in the morning. Huge credit to Derrick too (you all know the reason – cannot be disclosed here).

ARFC showed its intent from the word go and took the lead in the 7^th min. Not for the first time, Derrick and Alvin showed immerse telepathic understanding developed from their kt days when Derrick dinked in a quick free-kick. Alvin needed no second invitation and duly dispatched the ball home for his 223^rd ARFC goal. 1-0

Guoxiong then underlined his potential as a centre midfielder when he let fly a 47.77 metre rocket ala Ruud Gullit that gave their keeper no chance at all. 2-0 and this was Guoxiong’s 19^th ARFC goal.

Curiously enough, Guoxiong was seen pointing his index finger towards the gate area after scoring as if to give credit to someone. All ARFC warriors including the reserves then turned to look towards the direction and spotted one girl who looked totally like our ex-ARFC warrior, Tong. However, the unidentified girl then quickly ran away from her spot. Strange-love really….

Blackburn then mimicked Guoxiong’s goal when he also unleashed a stiff grounder from 47.777 metres for his 134^th ARFC goal. 3-0

In the 2^nd half, club captain Sebastian made his first ARFC appearance in a month after his self-imposed break.

Within 77 seconds from the re-start, ARFC scored its 4^th goal after Kenny hit a corner-kick right at the most dangerous area just at the tip of the 6-yard box. Soon dashed in and met the ball with a thumping header for his 55^th ARFC goal. 4-0

77 seconds later, Kenny repeated the corner routine in an almost replica move. This time round, Jinzhong, who had such an impressive outing, outjumped everybody and headed the ball goalwards. The ball looked to be heading out for a goal-kick until Jasper, who also improved, stuck his left-foot out to divert the goal into the net ala William Gallas’ trade-mark move. 5-0 and this was Jasper’s debut goal.

After scoring, Jasper sprinted towards YY and hoisted her up in the air for a full 77 seconds and shouting “I Love YY” repeatedly at the same time.

Hee then marked his return to ARFC (also one-month break) by glancing the ball home from Blackburn’s left-wing cross. 6-0 and this was Hee’s 94^th ARFC goal.

After scoring, Hee also speeded towards Melissa who, however, was busy watching the movie “Frozen” with her ipad and singing “Let It Go” at the same time.

Weilit then demonstrated why he is fast becoming ARFC’s most improved player when he exchanged a gem of a wall-pass with Haron before running in from deep to whip the ball past their exposed keeper. 7-0 and this was Weilit’s 6^th ARFC goal.

Guoxiong then reminded everybody of his right-wing prowess when he chalked up 3 assists for ARFC’s last 3 goals.

First, he lofted in a ball right into the 6-yard area which saw their keeper completely missing the ball. Alvin was the beneficiary when he simply pushed the ball over the goal-line using just 0.77 ounce of his energy for his 224^th ARFC goal. 8-0

Haron then grabbed a brace. First, Guoxiong’s right-wing cross was met with a world-class super-delicious scissor-kick from Haron that no keeper in this world could possibly save. 9-0 and this was Haron’s 201^st ARFC goal.

Then, Sebastian broke clear from his own half, evaded a few tackles and galloped forward. After exchanging one-two with Kenny, Sebastian spread the ball out wide to Guoxiong even though he could have just headed goalwards. Guoxiong immediately fizzed the ball back to the penalty area and Haron arrived from deep to sweep the ball goalwards. The ball hit the underside of the cross-bar and bounced over the line. 10-0 and this was Haron’s 202^nd ARFC goal.

There was still time for Chun Haw to grab a hat-trick if not for his 3 amazing misses. First, he shot into Row X. Seconds later, he skied the ball into Row Y and seconds later, he ballooned the ball to Row Z. Wasted!

ARFC suffered first defeat in 2014

No thanks to a disastrous 5-min lapse of concentration which saw 3 goals being shipped, ARFC fell to its first defeat in 2014 after losing 2-4 to Chester City.

ARFC fired the first salvo in the 3^rd min when Alvin found his way down the left flank via his usual trade-make run. He cut the ball back and fizzed in a low ball. Soon showed great anticipation when he dashed in from deep to dispatch the ball nicely into the net. 1-0 and this was Soon’s 54^th ARFC goal.

The opponents then equalized. 1-1

5 mins into the second half, Derrick continued to justify his ‘Most Improved Player of 2013’ when he sliced the ball through for Kenny who broke their off-side trap easily. Unfortunately, Kenny’s fierce left-foot shot cannoned off their left post and rebounded to the opponents. With a swift counter-attack, the opponents scored! 1-2

3 mins later, the opponents scored again. 1-3

2 mins later, the opponents put the result to bed by scoring their 4^th goal. 1-4

No one in the packed stadium could believe what was unfolding before their eyes. All ARFC warriors were also stunned by this sudden melt-down.

To ARFC’s credit, all warriors quickly regrouped and managed to pull a goal back in the 70^th min.  Derrick exchanged wall-passes with Kenny and duly scored his 75^th ARFC goal. 2-4

Man-of-the-Match is given to Weilit who displayed marked improvement in running and taking on opponents.
