Chun Haw scored arguably the fastest goal in the entire football history in the world when he scored directly from the kick-off!!!  The time taken for the ball in the air was about 1.7 seconds before hitting the net.

1-0  and this was Chun Haw’s 111th ARFC goal.

ARFC doubled its lead 5 mins later courtesy of Guoxiong’s determination run and pressing at the right flank.  The ball seemed to be heading out for a goal kick but Guoxiong had other ideas as he gave chase before managing to retrieve the ball about 0.77 mm from the touch line.  He then took a shot that was blocked but the rebound fell kindly to him as he instinctively leashed home a left footer from a very acute angle!  2-0 and this was Guoxiong’s 38th ARFC goal.

Guoxiong’s last goal for ARFC was on 17 Apr 2022 when he netted in a thrilling 4-4 draw against Entertainers FC at Greenridge SS.

Haron then came on for Delon and almost scored.

Haron made a great run from deep off Chun Haw’s pass and spotting their GK charging out, he executed a chip that their GK somehow just barely managed to pluck the ball from the air. Unlucky but what a run and vision from Haron.

ARFC scored its 3rd goal after some fine quick passing.  Delon, who came back in for Alvin, won the ball in opponent’s half and passed back to Sebastian. In turn, Sebastian quickly switched the ball to Chun Haw to his right, and Chun Haw had the quick mind to play an excellent wall-pass with Haron who held the ball well before returning to Chun Haw.  Clean through, Chun Haw duly obliged with a low shot that beat their GK easily.

3-0 and this was Chun Haw’s 112th ARFC goal.

ARFC spurned a great chance when Chun Haw found Haron who had made a great run down the right flank. Reaching the byline, Haron squared across to Alvin but the latter somehow lost his footing and the chance was lost.

Kerwin then pressed hard to win a ball on the left before passing to Delon. Delon’s slide rule pass saw Alvin breaking in down the left and with Haron distracting the opponents by making himself free at the right far post, Alvin simply fired a left footer into the near post.  4-0 and this was Alvin’s 362nd ARFC goal.

Kerwin’s long throw was met by Alvin whose header was blocked.  Off the rebound, Toh’s header was also blocked.

Fremont then kept out the opponents when he produced a stunning save to push their long shot over the bar.

Half time 4-0.

2 mins from the re-start, Chun Haw exchanged passes with Guoxiong down the right but saw his lofted ball palmed away by their GK for a corner.

From the ensuing corner, Sebastian pinged a precise ball into the box and both Eng Lai and Toh jumped for the ball.  Eng Lai met the ball with a powerful header but the ball crashed off the cross-bar and out for a goal kick.  Unlucky!

Kerwin then scored after being released by Sebastian down the left channel. Kerwin faked their right back twice with quick step-overs before rifling a left footer high into the net inside the near post.  5-0 and this was Kerwin’s 8th ARFC goal.

Kerwin then showed incredible pressing when he won the ball from the defender and though he could have scored himself, he heard Alvin calling for the ball.  Kerwin demonstrated great selflessness when he laid the ball across for the onrushing Alvin to tap the ball into the unguarded net for his 363rd ARFC goal.  6-0

The opponents then pulled a goal back. 6-1

Eng Lai then nearly scored but his header, off Kerwin’s yet another missile-like throw-in, just outside the 6-yard box was just slightly over the bar.

Ron, who reached the venue at half time, then created ARFC’s 7th goal through sheer will of power.

The ball was slowly rolling out of play on the right side (near halfway line) but Ron did not give up.  From his middle of the park position, Ron summoned all his energy by chasing after the ball when everyone had stopped, thinking that the ball would surely go out of play.  Ron managed to reach the ball about 0.77 mm before it went out, and arched his body and kicked the ball towards opponent’s goal. In a flash, Alvin ensured that Ron’s efforts did not go to waste as he sped in before whacking a left-footer past their despairing GK.  7-1 and this was Alvin’s 364th ARFC goal.

With the goal, Alvin has notched up his 33rd ARFC hat-tricks which netted 111 goals.

The opponents then pulled another goal back. 7-2

This was a fantastic team performance but Kerwin, Haron and Guoxiong stood out with their performances.

Alvin's 32nd ARFC hat-trick in 6-4 win

Bouncing back from 1st first defeat on 24 Sep 2023, ARFC dished out a comprehensive yet messy victory over No Name 6-4 on 1 Oct 2023 at 3 pm t the magnificent Bartlet SS pitch.

ARFC was supported by Elvis’ 3 kids (Tiara, Dylan and Gina) and a SYT (Chun Haw’s girl).

ARFC also welcomed Delon into its fold after his impressive outing last Sunday.

Kudos to Soon who turned up to support despite his heavily-swollen ankle.

ARFC paid a heavy price for its slow start and soon found itself 0-2 behind after some lethargic display.

However, a very good sign is that ARFC did not panic at all and was very confident that it could claw its way back.

ARFC thought it had scored when Khim’s exquisite through ball saw Alvin breaking in and slotted under their GK.  Incredulously, the referee incorrectly ruled that Alvin was offside, striking an uncanny resemblance to Luis Diaz’s disallowed goal against Spurs just a few hours before.

Alvin did not let the setback deter him as he soon robbed their right-back of the ball and slotted under their GK for his 359th ARFC goal. 1-2 now.

Sebastian’s free-kick on the left was then headed over by Toh from close range.

ARFC then grabbed an equaliser with a hell of a team goal.  From a quick counter attack, Chua laid the ball to Ron who duly passed the ball to Wayne who had pulled away to the right flank.  Wayne then spotted Darren’s overlapping run from his left back position and found him with a superb cross-field ball down the left flank, and continued his run into the box.

Darren did not disappoint as his cross into the box was met brilliantly by Wayne’s sliding first-time volley on the ground that left their GK rooted to the spot and saw the ball nestled nicely at the bottom left corner.  2-2 and this was Wayne’s 57th ARFC goal.

At the water-break point, the 4 young guns (Chun Haw, Wei Lit, Delon and Kerwin) came on for the old guards (Sebastian, Ron, Khim and Eng Lai) to form the entire midfield.  Probably first time it happened in the entire ARFC history.

The moved reaped dividends almost immediately as Kerwin’s right wing cross was met by Chun Haw’s head and looked to have found the net.  However, their GK somehow stuck out his hands to keep out Chun Haw’s header but Wayne reacted quickest to thump home a sumptuous volley.  3-2 and this was Wayne’s 58th ARFC goal.

Elvis also came up with stunning interceptions.

ARFC then went to sleep and conceded a 3rd goal.  3-3 at half time.

At half-time mark, Fremont complaint of dizziness and Chun Haw duly took up the GK position.  Kudos to him!

Within minutes from the restart, Toh again wasted a golden opportunity when he again headed over from Sebastian’s corner.

ARFC’s relentless pressure soon told after Darren’s long throw from the left was flicked on by Toh and their defender took an unfortunate touch for an own goal.  4-3 and this was the 42nd own goals conceded to ARFC in all the matches since 1991.

From the right flank, Kerwin then played the ball out to Sebastian whose precise cross was again headed over by Toh!

Alvin then showed Toh how it was done when he simply glanced the ball into the net off Kerwin’s long throw from the right.   5-3 and this was Alvin’s 360th ARFC goal.

Alvin then grabbed his 32nd ARFC hat-trick (total 108 goals) thanks largely to Chun Haw and Wei Lit.

Chun Haw’s long kick from his GK position found Wei Lit galloping down the left flank.  He then slalomed his way through before squaring the ball across for Alvin to drill home his 361st ARFC goal. 6-3 now.

Chun Haw then made double saves in quick succession but was eventually beaten by a lobbed shot. 6-4.

A special shout-out to Chua who has always provided a reliable and effective option for ARFC with his unassuming yet reassuring performances all these years.  A true unsung hero for the team.
