Wei Lit’s wonder goal in 4-4 stalmate

Courtesy of a brilliant flowing team goal from Wei Lit, ARFC came from behind 3 times to draw 4-4 against the younger and fitter Dortmund Juniors.

ARFC found itself 0-2 down within 9 mins.

ARFC found a lifeline back into the match when Derrick won yet another penalty for ARFC with his trickery dribble that forced their defender to hack him down.  Haron was the biggest beneficiary when he confidently stroked home the spot-kick for his    ARFC goal. 1-2

6 mins later, Darren showed why he is regarded as ARFC’s Andrew Robertson when he latched on to a pass from defence, ran all the way upfield before letting fly a left-foot belter that emphatically beat their GK.  2-2 and this was Darren’s 26^th ARFC goal.

The opponents then scored just before half-time to lead 3-2.

In the 2^nd half, ARFC was determined to put things right, particularly Ron who was fired up as Lingzhi appeared to support him from behind.

14 mins after the restart, Ron met Eng Lai’s beautifully-floated corner kick with a thumping header ala Virgil van Dijk for his 17^th ARFC goal.  World-class!

With his goal, Ron is now on level terms with Tze Ern at 17 ARFC goals.

7 mins later, the opponents won a penalty and Fremont did brilliantly to save the spot-kick.  However, ARFC could not clear the rebound and the opponents scored. 3-4 now.

ARFC summoned all its remaining energy and launched attacks and attacked in its bid to get an equaliser.  Off a flowing team move, ARFC equalised.

From defence, Chua passed to Kerwin who crossed into the centre.  Derrick rose highest and flicked the ball to Darren on the left.  Darren held up the ball well and waited for Wei Lit to make a run from deep.  Darren then paid the ball nicely and Wei Lit needed no second invitation when he hit an out-of-this-world volley ala Steven Gerrard from the edge of the box to leave their GK stunned like vegetable.  4-4 and this was Wei Lit’s 17^th ARFC goal, making him on same goals as Ron and Tze Ern.

Kerwin then nearly snatched a winner but his Ronald Koeman-like free-kick struck the bottom left post and rebounded out. Unlucky!

Darren inspires ARFC's first victory in 2020 in 6-2 win

After going winless for the 4 matches in 2020, ARFC finally notched its first victory in 2020 after demolishing Southern Eagles FC 6-2 on 1 Mar 2020 at Meridien Sec Sch courtesy of inspiring performance from Darren and Wayne. 

ARFC was supported by Tiara and Dylan (Elvis’ kids) and Clara (Guoxiong’s princess).

Megan (Tjioe’s lovely girl) also made her successive ARFC Supporter outing.

Sebastian paid the price for his outburst last Sunday as he was rightly relegated to the substitutes’ bench.

ARFC was still in slumberland and was duly punished when their first shot from distance found the net.  0-1.

ARFC then woke up and started to seize control of the match with Tjioe and Ron leading the charge.

ARFC equalised in the 7^th min when Andrew’s superb long goal-kick was flicked on by Darren into the path of Alvin. Unsurprisingly, Alvin drilled past their GK for his 334^th ARFC goal. 1-1

Guoxiong and Chua then combined brilliantly down the right before passing to Wayne who had made a great diagonal run to the right flank.  Wayne “ole” their left-back and had the options of passing to both Sebastian and Ron who had charged in from midfield.  Wayne squared across and Sebastian heard Ron’s call and did not take the ball.  The ball rolled nicely to Ron who hit a beautiful side-foot curler all the way to the far post and over their diving GK.  2-1 and this was Ron’s 16^th ARFC goal.

Darren was unlucky when his well-placed shot to the bottom right corner from Wayne’s great pass was kept out by their full-length diving GK.

ARFC extended its lead after Darren’s quick long throw saw Wayne charging in while the opponents was appealing for off-side (they forgot throw-ins would never be off-side).  Wayne made his way goalwards and still had the time and skill to turn their covering inside out before shooting past their GK.  3-1 and this was Wayne’s 51^st ARFC goal.

Wayne then nearly turned provider after his silky run down the left flank saw him passing the ball to Sebastian who was standing at the top of the penalty box. Sebastian touched the ball up in the air but his volley was just 0.77 mm wide of the left post.

With mins to go befpre the break, Sebastian;s long ball was handled by their player,  Wayne stepped up and hit a David Beckham-like bender that gave their GK no chance at all.  The ball landed nicely at the top right corner for Wayne’s 52^nd ARFC goal. 4-1

Just 2 mins after the re-start, ARFC scored its 5^th goal of the match. From Alvin’s corner, Tjioe charged in like a raging bull ala John Terry (both of them do looked alike) and thumped a powerful header that nearly burst the net.  5-1 and this was Tjioe’s 67^th ARFC goal.

After scoring, Tjioe ran all the way to Megan and hoisted her up for 28 seconds and kissed hr 28 times on her forehead.

Tjioe’s goal also hit a landmark as this was ARFC’s 2300^th goal since its inception in Jun 1991.

ARFC continued to dominate and missed at least 4 golden chances.

First, Tjioe made his way into the box but his powerful shot hit the cross-bar.

Then, Wayne’s corner from the right hit the far post.

Next, Alvin somehow sent his shot to Row Z when left unmarked.

Lastly, Hee somehow contrived to miskick from 0.11 metres in front of the gaping goal after some good work from Alvin.

The opponents then pulled a goal back. 5-2

With virtually the last kick of the match, Darren’s quick throw-in from the left saw Alvin powering into the box before rifling the ball into the roof of the net. 6-2 and this was Alvin’s 335^th ARFC goal.
