Alvin notched his 28th ARFC hat-trick in 5-5 thriller

Playing under humid weather on 23 Feb 2020 at Orchid Park SS, ARFC let slip a great opportunity to win its first match in 2020 after being held to a 5-5 draw by Hilderinc Twa.

ARFC was supported by Tiara and Dylan (Elvis’ kids), Clara (Guoxiong’s princess), Nicole (Kerwin’s beau).

Megan (Tjioe’s lovely girl) also made her ARFC Supporter debut.

ARFC took the lead in the 2^nd min after their left-back made a horrendous back pass across his own area and Alvin gleefully accepted the gift by nonchalantly lifted the ball over their GK.  1-0 and this was Alvin’s 331^st ARFC goal.

Wayne’s brilliant reverse through pass was picked up by Wei Lit who had made a diagonal run from left to the centre.  Alas, Wei Lit could not get a good shooting footing and his shot was blocked.

Sebastian then delivered 3 free-kicks in succession but bore no results.

The opponents then scored 2 goals to lead 2-1.

Kerwin’s low free-kick from distance was packed with power but no accuracy as it flew wide.

In the 2^nd half, Alvin was unlucky after his shot hit the left upright after being teed up by Soon.

Soon also dashed in but placed his shot just wide of goal.

ARFC equalised in the 50^th min after the referee awarded a penalty for pushing by the opponents.  Alvin stepped up to send their GK the wrong way for his 332^nd ARFC goal.

The opponents then regained its lead almost straight from the re-start. 2-3

ARFC was now fired up and began attacking the opponents repeatedly.

In a good free-kick routine, Alvin tapped the ball to Kerwin who drilled in a thunderbolt that just flashed past the right post and nearly hit Nicole!

From another attack, ARFC drew level.  Chua did well by overlapping on the right before swinging in a cross that had the opponents in sixes and sevens.  Alvin followed up with a shot that was block by their GK, and his rebound was blocked by their covering defender. The ball fell kindly back to Alvin who prodded the ball home.  3-3 and it was Alvin’s 333^rd ARFC goal.

With this hat-trick, Alvin has now scored 28 hat-tricks for ARFC which netted 93 goals.

By now, ARFC was totally fired up with Tjioe dishing out his renowned tenacious tackles on several occasions.

ARFC extended its lead after Kerwin’s long throw from the right was handled by their defender.  This time round, Sebastian handed over the penalty-taking duty to Chun Haw whose spot-kick went in off the left post.  4-3 and this was Chun Haw’s 90^th ARFC goal.

ARFC then appeared to put the result to bed with its 5^th goal of the match.  Wayne’s fantastic corner kick from the right was curled right to the far post and Chun Haw leaped the highest to power a header home! 5-3 and this was Chun Haw’s 91^st ARFC goal.

Alas, ARFC could not defend its lead and conceded 2 late goals after fielding the 4 youngsters to draw 5-5.

Wayne hit landmark 50th ARFC goal in 3-7 loss

In a rather hastily-arranged match on Monday night (17 Feb 2020) at Tampines SAFRA pitch, ARFC came up against a strong, young and fit tam and lost 3-7.

ARFC actually started brightly and managed to carve out a few half chances.

The fitness and hard running of the opponents then started to tell as they built up a 4-0 lead before ARFC pulled a goal back.

From the right, Alvin laid the ball to the on-rushing Soon who elegantly lifted the ball over their GK to the far corner for his 93^rd ARFC goal. 1-4 at half-time.

The opponents then scored 7 mins after the break to lead 5-1.

ARFC pulled another goal back after Kenny, who was clearly the best ARFC player on the night, found his way down the left flank. He answered Alvin’s call for the ball by squaring the ball inwards.  Alvin then dragged the defender out of his bearing with a quick push of the ball to his right before chipping the ball over their GK. 2-5 and this was Alvin’s 330^th ARFC goal.

The opponents then scored 2 more goals to lead 7-2.

ARFC, however, scored the goal of match.  Breaking from the opponents’ failed corner routine, Sebastian passed the ball to Wei Lit who brought the ball upwards to the left. Seeing Kenny making a run from deep to the left, Wei Lit found Kenny with a well-weighted high ball.  Once again, Kenny dribbled down the left flank before sending in a high hanging ball to the middle right area.  Wayne did very well by running into a great position before connecting with a sweet first-timer with his weaker right foot that saw the ball nestled nicely at the top left corner.  3-7 and this was Wayne’s 50^th ARFC goal.
