Haron's brace in thrilling 4-4 draw

Bouyed by last week’s creditable 1-1 draw with Tres Dos, ARFC showed incredible spirit, determination and teamwork to draw 4-4 against Gen Y FC after trailing 1-3 at some stage.

Both teams were even-stevens in the opening exchanges as both their midfielders were trying to gain dominance.

In the 17^th min, Khim gave a delightful through ball to the centre which saw Haron reacted the fastest.  However, Haron placed his shot too close to their GK who parried the stinging shot away.

The opponents then scored in the 37^th min. 0-1

However, ARFC equalized almost straight from the re-start.  From Alvin’s well-floated corner, Toh came charging in like a hardened cock waiting to enter a moist hole and simply thumped home an unstoppable header. 1-1 and this was Toh’s 93^rd ARFC goal.

About 17 seconds after the start of the 2^nd half, ARFC conceded a goal. 1-2.

5 mins later, ARFC was punished again for being sloppy and sleepy. 1-3.

In the 70^th min, Soon’s well-executed through ball from the centre saw Kenny bursting clear and bor down on goal. With a defender fast closing down on him, Kenny simply le fly a half-volley grounder for his 74^th ARFC goal. 2-3 and this goal put Kenny on level terms with Soon on 74 goals.

Galvanisd by Kenny’s goal, ARFC poured forward in search of an equalizing goal which duly arrived in the 77^th min.  From an attacking move on the left, Alvin dribbled down the left and his square ball to the centre swathe ball hit their defender’s arms. Penalty!

Haron confidently and comprehensively converted a well-taken penalty for his 239^th ARFC goal. 3-3!

2 mins later, ARFC earned another penalty after Kenny was cruelly chopped down by their defender. Just when everybody was expecting Haron to take another penalty, perennial spoiler Blackburn brushed aside all and sundry but only succeeded to blast the ball wide of the post. KNN!

Sensing a victory is on the cards, ARFC stepped up a gear and grabbed its 4^th goal of the match.  Again, Khim was the chief architect when he sent in a diagonal ball to the right for Kenny to latch on.  Kenny then dribbled past a few defenders before unselfishly squaring the ball to the centre where Haron had the simplest of task to side-foot the ball home! 4-3 and this was Haron’s 240^th ARFC goal and 5 goals in 5 matches in 2017.

However, ARFC conceded a last-gasp goal to draw 4-4.

With seconds to go, ARFC actually scored a goal but the goal was correctly ruled off-side.

Kenny's David Beckham-like goal in creditable 1-1 draw in league opener

Kicking off its league tournament against last year’s League Champion Tres Dos, ARFC showed that its heavy loss to the same opponents was really a fluke when it took the lead but had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

ARFC started the match at a frantic pace which shocked the much younger Tres Dos. However, Tres Dos soon took control and took several shots at our goal but none was able to beat Derrick’s safe hands.

ARFC took the lead in the 17^th min with a David Beckham-like wonder goal in season 1997-98.  From our goal-kick, their midfielder miscontrolled his header and the ball fell nicely to Kenny who was just slightly inside his own half.  With a great first touch that killed the ball completely, Kenny spotted their GK off his line and unleashed a thunderbolt that sailed all the way over their GK.  Fantastic world-class goal. 1-0 and this was Kenny’s 73d ARFC goal and also his 1^st ARFC goal in 2017.

In the 27^th min, ARFC nearly doubled its lead through a swift counter-attack.  From defending a corner, the ball landed at the feet of Haron who was at the edge of his own box.  Haron then sprayed a pass to Alvin at the centre mid area and the latter trapped nicely before passing the ball to Weilit down the left.  Weilit then returned a brilliant through ball to Alvin who charged down at goal with much power and pace.  Unfortunately, Alvin’s powerful shot was somehow tipped over by the despairing arms of their GK.

Tres Dos then continued attacking but was denied time and again by Derrick.

Weilit and Kenny also squandered 2 golden chances but ARFC took the 1-goal lead into the break.

In the 47^th min, Alvin threaded the ball to Chun Haw who controlled the ball well before back-heeling to the onrushing Soon. Soon timed his run to perfection and eluded all defenders. Unluckily, his well-placed shot was again turned round the post by their brilliant GK.

Tres Dos then equalized with a long shot. 1-1

Both teams then continued to tear at each other’s vital points but were unable to grab a winning goal.
