ARFC slammed 6 past hapless opponent
In a home-coming match at ARFC’s old homeground at Blk 367 Yishun Ring Road, ARFC slammed 6 past a hapless Raven in front of 77,777 fanatical fans.
ARFC suffered a major set-back prior to the match when it was revealed that astute-reading sweeper Elvis could not make it to the match due to urgent personal commitment. However, sources disclosed that he was seen dancing merrily and drinking heartily with a huge group of bikini-clad babes at “Dragonfly” way into the wee hours of the day.
Luckily, hard-man Tjioe unexpectedly turned up after his 1-week stint at Mumbai FC sponsored by ARFC. Mean machine Hock also announced his availability. Hence, ARFC, for the second week in a row, did not have to depend any guest players and in fact, could even afford to loan unpredictable Blackburn to the opponent for the match.
ARFC started with dependable Jinzhong in goal, Towering Toh took over the sweeper’s role with determined Huiming as stopper and flanking the defence was hard-working Tong and left-foot wizard Bernard. Sublime Khim returned to left midfield and entrepreneur Guoxiong on the opposite flank. Sebastiano and hard-man Tjioe were at the centre. The forward line was led by ARFC scoring legend Haron and Speedy Hee. Last week’s hat-trick hero, powerful Alvin, was unexpectedly left on the bench together with reliable David Mak (father of Marco Mak) and mean-machine Hock were the subs.
When the referee blew the starting whistle, ARFC took a while to settle and was rattled by couple of attacks by Raven. Of course, ARFC’s experience proved invaluable and warded off these attacks and starting imposing itself on the match.
In the 17th min, a quick attack down the left flank resulted in the opponent clearing the ball out to the centre of the pitch about 37 metres out. The loose ball was pickedf up by Sebastiano who looked up and chipped in a swerving ball that completely fooled the keeper ala Matthew-Le-Tissier style. 1-0 and this was Sebastiano’s 45th goal for ARFC, putting him level with WO Neo in the all-time ARFC goal-scoring chart.
7 minutes later, powerful Alvin, who replaced Speedy Hee minutes earlier, put ARFC 2-0 up. Picking up the ball on the left flank, he eluded 2 defenders and all almost 7 seconds to take aim. Ignoring the free ARFC scoring legend Haron in the 6-yard box, powerful Alvin squeezed the ball from a very acute angle. This was his 21st goal for ARFC.
Before half-time ended, mean-machine Hock missed 2 glit-edged chances and Speedy Hee also squandered couple opportunities. When the referee blew for half-time whistle, ARFC was greeted by loud chorus of chanting by the fans as they totally outplayed the opponent.
When second half resumed, ARFC continued their relentless attack. The half was barely 7 minutes old when powerful Alvin put the result beyond doubt. Not surprisingly and expectedly, the architect of the goal was who else but sublime Khim. Breaking up their attack on our right flank, sublime Khim looked up and spotted powerful Alvin making a fantastic run down their left flank. His ball found powerful Alvin who took the ball right up to the box and steered into the goal. 3-0!!
In the 57th min, a superb pressure by several ARFC warriors on their sweeper in the centre of the pitch resulted in sublime Khim nicking the ball away from him. Embarking on a 70-metres run, sublime Khim crossed for the lurking Speedy Hee who in turn returned the ball to him. With the crowd rising to their feet expecting a goal, sublime Khim easily and cleverly slotted the ball home for his 21st ARFC goal. 4-0 !!
By now, Raven was totally deflated. Powerful Alvin completed his second hat-trick in as many games when he out-muscled the hapless defender to powered in the ball for his 23rd ARFC goal. 5-0!!
7 minutes later, left-foot wizard Bernard had the perfect opportunity to open his ARFC goal-scoring account. Unfortunately, his rather-weak shot, after taking aim for yet another 7 seconds, was easily smothered by the impressive keeper. Unlucky!!
In the 77th min, trust who else but ARFC goal-scoring legend Haron to complete the scoring. Hard-working Tong sent in a perfect cross from the right to Haron who brought the ball down with a perfect first touch and calmly shot home for his 103rd goals for ARFC.
Addressing the packed-o-the-seams room of reporters and babes from St.James Power House, powerful Alvin was clearly over the moon with his hat-trick in successive games: “I just want to thank all the superb ARFC warriors for giving me such strong support and chances. I hope that with my performances over the past 2 weeks, I can be guaranteed a starting role in ARFC or else I might consider a move to Gombak Utd in the S-League, though my heart and soul will always be with ARFC.”
Once again, the central defence of Towering Toh and determined Huiming had a blinding game by keeping out all attacks. Entrepreneur Guoxiong, hard-working Tong and mean-machine Hock provided much-needed speed, running and stability on the right flank, while left-foot wizard Bernard, reliable David Mak (father of Marco Mak) and sublime Khim were unbeatable on the left flank. Hard-man Tjioe provided the steel at the centre with the forward line linking up very well. Goalkeeper dependable Jinzhong had almost a very free match.

ARFC's thumping 9-1 victory
In a match played under drizzling rain and on a mud-soaked pitch at Bedok North Secondary School, ARFC scored a thumping 9-1 victory against a young-but-anyhow-tackle opponent.
ARFC received crushing news when ARFC scoring legend pulled out of the match with sore eyes. According to rumours, the sore eyes was due to too much viewing of naked old women who are working as office cleaners at his work place.
Fortunately, several ARFC stalwarts turned up unexpectedly – Kiat Gulam, David Mak (father of Marco Mak), entrepreneur Guoxiong and powerful Alvin. The match was also a long time that ARFC did not depend on guest players to play for them as all are authentic ARFC warriors.
ARFC started with dependable Jinzhong in goal, astute-reading sweeper Elvis led the defence of Towering Toh, David Mak (father of Marco Mak) and determined Huiming. Left-foot wizard Bernard moved up to left midfield, Sebastiano and hard-working Tong guard the centre and unpredictable Blackburn was given a surprising starting role at right midfield. Up front, WO Neo was partnered by Speedy Hee. Entrepreneur Guoxiong, Kiat Gulam, powerful Alvin and sublime Khim were the subs.
As in their previous matches, ARFC quickly stamped its authority on the field, with hardworking Tong and Sebastiano bossing the midfield. Left-foot wizard had a wonderful time tearing down the left flank, with WO Neo and Speedy Hee fully utilizing their speed to constantly harass their defenders.
Hence, it was no surprise when ARFC opened its scoring in the 7th min. A wicked high and long clearance by David Mak (father of Marco Mak) eluded their defender and WO Neo latched on to the ball and shot past their keeper. 1-0 and this goal brought WO Neo level on Sebastiano with 44 goals.
7 minutes later, WO Neo again found the net. After some brilliant inter-passes, Speedy Hee laid on the ball to WO Neo who slipped the ball past their keeper with his 45th goal for ARFC. With this goal, WO Neo moved up to 4th position in the all-time ARFC scoring chart.
In the 27th min, left-foot wizard Bernard almost scored his first-ever goal for ARFC. Again, Speedy Hee found him in acres of space after yet another blinding move by ARFC warriors on the right midfield. Left-foot wizard Bernard had almost 7 seconds to take aim but his weak shot was amazingly saved by their keeper for a corner. What a waste!!!!
7 minutes later, left-foot wizard returned the compliments when his pin-point cross from the left was turned in by Speedy Hee whose speed allowed him to get to the ball first. 3-0 and this is his 43rd goal for ARFC.
The reward for left-foot wizard Bernard’s assistance? He was immediately replaced by sublime Khim. Kiat Gulam also took over from Towering Toh, with determined Huiming moving to stopper and Kiat Gulam at right-back. Entrepreneur Guoxiong took over from the fast-tiring unpredictable Blackburn at right midfield. Powerful Alvin also came in for Speedy Hee.
7 minutes before the end, Sebastiano delivered an exquisite slide-rule pass that found powerful Alvin lurking at the penalty box. Naturally and expectedly, powerful Alvin slot in for his 18th goal for ARFC. 4-0 at half-time and the game was effectively over. David Mak (father of Marco Mak) also left at half-time due to sickness as he was busy celebrating Everton’s miraculous draw with Sheffield United the night before.
In the second-half, ARFC was over-confident. Just 7 minutes into the half, ARFC was punished when their right-winger was allowed to bring the ball all the way into the penalty box and shot past Jinzhong, who was almost having performing the role of spectator in the game. 1-4. This resulted in a chorus of boos by the ever-faithful ARFC fans and this appeared to wake all ARFC warriors up.
7 minutes later, ARFC scored its 5th goal of the match. Hard-working Tong won the ball on the left, looked up and chipped in a delicious ball to the unmarked entrepreneur Guoxiong who had the easiest of task to scored with a stooping header. 5-1 and this was his 4th goal for ARFC.
In the 57th min, powerful Alvin notched up another goal when he received the ball from sublime Khim and powered his way past their defenders and shot past their keeper. 6-1 now!!
7 mins later, ARFC won a corner on the right. Powerful Alvin whipped in the ball which appeared to be handled easily by their keeper. To the away fans’ horror, he dropped the ball and the lurking Towering Toh could not miss from 0.7 metres from the goal line. He toe-pocked the ball home for his 21st goal for ARFC. 7-1!!!
In the 67th min, Sebastiano sent in a free-kick and both Kiat Gulam and Towering Toh were going for the ball. Kiat Gulam reached the ball first but his thumping header rocked the cross-bar. Unlucky!!!
In the 74th min, powerful Alvin finally scored his 3rd goal of the match. His hat-trick also allowed him to join a select band of ARFC warriors who had scored 3 goals or more in a single match. 8-1.
7 minutes later, powerful Alvin nearly scored his 4th goal of the match but his super-powerful bullet hit the post. The rebound fall to the on-rushing Speedy Hee who skied the ball as he had only 0.0077 seconds to react to the ball. Unlucky!!
In the 87th min, a quick throw-in by Kiat Gulam found powerful Alvin on the right flank. He took the ball past the defenders to the bye-line and crossed to sublime Khim. Of course, sublime Khim drilled the ball into the bottom left corner for his 20th goal for ARFC. 9-1!!!
Speaking to the horde of Hokkien-speaking journalists after the match, unpredictable Blackburn said: “Kanina, the opponent gan aw. If no rain, we sure scored many many more goals. Some of my players also jia-luk, rain and mud still play the ball on the ground. If they used more brains like me like that, sure got many many chances.”
Of course, this was unpredictable Blackburn’s usual self. Always blaming his team-mates for not doing more whereas he usually ran the less on the field ………..
One more thing, astute-reading sweeper Elvis and determined Huiming, as usual, live up to their high standards by repelling several attacks by the opponents.
